A new paper reporting a small case series of 4 patients who got relief from low dose aripiprazole (abilify ) after augmentation that was resistant to other treatment.
Does anyone have any experience with aripiprazole? I took it long ago, before I was even on DA for RLS, for bipolar depression, but at higher doses than this study. A common response to it is akethesia which would imply it might make RLS worse, but some had very positive effects.
I think I will ask my doctor about trying it. It has a long half life so I suspect starting it even lower than 1.0mg would be advisable. I have also seen other resent research about its effectiveness in very low doses for CFS….

My friend was placed on it before taking iron therapy, she became more restless in just a few days, I think some of these antipsychotics help in the beginning if you take iron, however I think with long term use it causes drug induced RLS and spreads to the arms and brain, that what I have seen with a close similar medication .
It has possible effect in the beginning, then it's likely to cause drug induced restless, the medication stops working and symptoms start to effect during the day, my partner was placed on that drug, she was suffering catatonia from antipsychotic injection and injury, the drug helped her in the beginning, I think it's a better choice than seroquel, it has less interaction with non phara meds, so I think there's no interaction with Valerian, I found 5htp griffonia seed extract, to be most helpful, more helpful than medicine. Sorry about my grammar,
I have taken Aripiprazole for about 11 years, suffered with restless legs for about 30 so I think that kind of debunks the study. It also has never helped with my CFS either (that's been pretty much a constant for 30 years too). The only thing that has helped me with my RLS is getting my Ferritin into triple figures and keeping it up there. In the last 3 years, I have hardlky had an episode.
