I highly recommend this book for all who want really in depth and up to date information on RLS, meds, things that "mimic" RLS, or conditions that can be comorbid with RLS, meaning that one CAN have more than one condition at a time. Like "Table 2.4" on pages 31 and 32. Cramps have their own little category, with 3 different kinds of cramps listed, as mimics of RLS, or misdiganoses or being comorbid with RLS, like arthritis, RA, peripheral neuropathy, and so on, including the leg cramps. On page 32, there is a paragraph after the table, "It should be noted that RLS can be comorbid with several other conditions" (see my list above), "and other pain syndromes (for example, Fibromyalgia) "These situations in which symptoms overlap can present some of the most difficult diagnostic quandaries". But, they make it very clear with that table, that leg cramps are very separate from RLS. The more up to date med information is priceless. It is written for professionals, but if you want to get deep into RLS and the scientific aspect of it all, this is the book to read. Always good to find new and updated information, and to be reminded of older information that the doctors and researchers who wrote this book have not changed their minds on. In the 2st edition the leg cramp info is virtually the same as the 2nd edition. The word comorbid has confused some people, from what I have heard. It just means that you can have more than one condition at a time, and I dare say that most of us do.
I have the 2nd edition of Clinical Ma... - Restless Legs Syn...
I have the 2nd edition of Clinical Management of Restless Legs Syndrome, released in April of this year. ;)
brilliant book, im reading it now,
I paid about 25 bucks, US, with shipping. It is the best book. The 1st edition has most of the info and is cheaper, but this is the most up to date info for doctors and how to treat RLS, and the latest med info.
posts do not posts themseves!!! you HAVE TO CLICK SUBMIT TO POST THEM !!!! we still get the email even if you deleted it, about chill, i wish i could !!
my cousin get hers from amazon, and it was £28 with delivery, check for different sellers
Wish that my doctor would read it as well. I am looking to the local
library first and then I will look on Amazon for a used copy.. otherwise,
25 dollars is not the end of the world. Sounds like a book for me. =)
Thank you very much.
I've been to the library never heard of it mind you im from England
its by american doctors go on Amazon, or google it, im in the UK, AND WE GOT IT
American and Japanese.
realy !! you amaze me , i bet you have the Japanese version
Go and have a mooch on eBay...I get quite a lot of really cheap books from various sellers. Quite often they are listed as damaged...the last one I got had a badly folded outer dust cover.....I paid 20% full cost!
Just opened the 1st edition. I didn't buy the second yet.
Yes, Ebay is a money saver. I don't mind used books
in the least. I try to get them at the library. I do own an
e-reader however nothing beats the feel of real paper..
holding onto a hard copy book is magical for me. =)
I have the second edition, got it a few days ago, but i must admit, it's a bit hard going for me, i think it's the medical jargon, if you dont know it then it's a bit of a struggle trying to decipher it, and i admit to grabbing the dictionary at times, so i think i would have done better with a patient version of the book, but im going to persist with it, and i may do as someone else suggested on here, get my gp to read it.
It is on eBay u.k. For approx £30,00 and amazon u.k. For £34.00.
don't no what amazon you are looking at but it is £14.67 new
Thanks not sure where I was looking last night, just ordered a copy for £14.67.
wow you did well there, was it the second edition ??
Yes second edition .x
I have this book also, and it is invaluable to me and my doctor. HE ordered one, too for him and his partners. He is a GP, but he knows more about RLS than most specialists, and he loves it because of the clinical detail.
i agree, its a good book, got my copy yesterday, but i think 3 posts on the same book was overkill, even if the last post was deleted, not in good grace though, and i may just let my gp know about it now, great idea, thanks for the tip
CAN I GET THIS BOOK IN THE UK if so where and how much MADDY MAC
It is possible that many RLS sufferers have read this book but having just finished it I thought I would just say how good I thought it was. It was the second edition and for those who want to see a well put together summation of the various facets of the condition itself and the various treatments i think it is exellent and well worth the money
Thank you for sharing, martino.
