Antidepressants and rls.
Does anyone have any alternative remedies for depression without antidepressants please.
I've come off mine as they were driving my symptoms.
Thankyou.

I don't have any suggestions without medicine, but have you tried trazodone which is safe for RLS?
Hi Baz, I second Sue’s recommendation. My recommendation is to start with 1/2 of a 50mg tab at night. Then after a few weeks increase to a full pill. If you’re like me you’ll see a difference in about a month.
Is it prescription?.
Yes, but doctors seem to prescribe readily. I’ve never found anything “natural” that works as well. Why r u up?
Work,my 1st client 6am......need to get ontop of this very low mood ......
Yes, I understand. As with the RLS, you will get on top of it.
Could you find a good therapist?
Analyse and change your diet if necessary as described in this video (you'll probably eliminate your RLS as well): youtu.be/JVl1X0fb1uA?si=MIU...
Hi Baz33, I take sertraline 50mg at about 8pm. I don't think it males my RLS worse, if anything I think my sleep has improved. I was prescribed some others initially and they did seem to aggravate my RLS, I think they were called Amitriptyline.
Diet is King! Do watch the video above with Chris Palmer, fascinating recoveries! His book "Brain Energy" is not a self-help book but rather a scientific discussion on diet, metabolism, and mental health. For Keto resources see...
I am 76, was first diagnosed with depression and put on meds 50 years ago. In that time I have tried every anti-depressant on the market (and some that are not on the market anymore) and many, many times tried going off them to find something else that worked (including all kinds of supplements, diets, meditation, you name it). Unfortunately I never found anything, and if there was anything out there I think I would have found it. I am now on Parnate, have been for about 2 years. The only thing I van tell you is that there are different classes of anti-depressants (which you may already know), SSRIs (like Zoloft), SNRIs (like Cynbalta), tricyclics, tetracyclics, MAO inhibitors (which I am now on), and some that are in a unique class by themselves (like Wellbutrin and Trazodone); I probably forgot some. The vast majority of doctors will put you on an SSRI and then try different SSRIs if the first one doesn't work, which is nonsense, because if one drug doesn't work or has bad side effects another drug from the same class will act the same. Ask your doctor to maybe try an anti-depressant of a different class than what you have been on. Good luck.
Hi I have had RLS for 21 years and been on 150 mg Venlafaxine most of that time. I'm not saying it hasn't interruped rls symptoms but its important to manage depressive symptoms as best we can as deprrssion is a major issue for us rls sufferers. All the very best.
Thankyou .
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is used for intractable depression.
I'm assuming from your reference to the NHS in a previous post, that you reside in the UK. I don't know how accessible it is in the UK but on a forum that i'm on, a lot of people in the US report accessing it via their insurance.
I'm in Australia and I tried TMS to help with my Periodic Limb Movement disorder (PLMD).
The protocols used for depression and RLS/PLMD are different so unfortunately, it's not a case of killing two birds with the one stone...
