I'm going to see my gp Monday and going to discuss a stronger antidepressant but would like to know which one does not exacerbate RLS,would really appreciate your advice.thankyou.
Antidepressants : Hello everyone, as I... - Restless Legs Syn...
Antidepressants
Maybe this is nothing - maybe it is everything! 3 Supplements...
Many prefer to just take a pill with the hope it will solve everything but often with meds, they fall a bit short of the expectation so therapy is often needed to determine what is causing the anxiety. Quite often anxiety is triggered by a fear of something. Having been in your position, I highly recommend a good therapist to help you get to the bottom of your anxiety and face it head on. Sadly, this may take some time as some therapists just aren't very good. As for pills, I have taken many but found Paxil works the best for me but it needs to be coupled with therapy. Remember, therapy first, pills second, to help with the therapy. Be patient and good to yourself. Paxil has not aggravated my RLS.
As Sue suggested below, Trazodone is the best. I am on 150mg daily and it definitely does not trigger my RLS.
i also take Bupropion. It’s fine if you have RLS.
Hello WML, ... - you may like to revisit the issue of vit B12 deficiency ( - B12d for short).
Diagnosis of this should be primarily on signs & symptoms... - & there's a B12d 'calculator' on b12d.org - think you'll find it helpful using this FIRST. Its essentially honing in on how many of seven bodily systems are showing significant signs of B12d. And yes, poor sleep issues like RLS is/can be ONE of the signs/symptoms, . . . from a wide range !
The serum B12 test is known to be notoriously insensitive - critiqued by NICE, in 2015, . . . in a ~44 page document, for instance - yet it continues to be used ! (Just dumb, . . . hmm ?).
Two other sites worth considering are:
a) b12awareness.org &, b) b12info.com ( - US & UK respectively).
You could also join HU's Pernicious Anaemia (PA) forum later, . . . & in time seek guidance/pointers from there.
For some with long term medical issues, with signs like RLS, the oral B12 supplements just don't work, & injections are the EFFECTIVE course. Many pple hv, after having a few injections, learnt to self-inject ... & source their own supplies ( - as more convenient & more affordable!). This can begin to improve a range of symptoms experienced & reduce or eliminate the need for medications in time, which were being used for those symptoms ( -often not too satisfactorily ?!!).
Suggest again, you'll find it MOST helpful to use the B12d 'calculator' to get a good idea of your B12 status. Sadly, there's much poor clinical practice around the B12 issue, . . . but the above are the better sources of info I've come across/know abt.
With good wishes for far better health, & at least establishing yr B12 status most accurately, . . . as a start ! 🙂
