DOES ANYONE KNOW IF A URINARY TRACT INFECTION CAN MAKE RESTLESS LEG SYNDROME WORSE?
I WAS JUST DIAGNOSED WITH A UTI AND MY RESTLESS LEGS HAVE BEEN EXTREME FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS.

Hi BAB97TIE - You should read my recent post “Antibiotics and RLS”.
I was being treated for cellulitis and the two antibiotics used are ones which are also used for UTIs.
Whilst on the treatment and for many days after stopping my RLS was bad night and day. I have been having good success in recent months from sublingual buprenorphine. Thankfully The RLS has settled. I think others on the site have experienced similar.
Hope you will be fully recovered very soon.
Hi again - I see you have not started the antibiotics yet. I feel that RLS is made worse by many things. Any fever or illness will trigger worse symptoms and of course any illness will affect the central nervous system of your body. These are just my thoughts but from all I have experienced and read I believe they are valid.
I do hope you will be feeling much better soon and get back to your normal self.
Agree completely with these comments. Just about any bug, disorder, stress, too much/too little exercise, allows the RLS to "break through" the meds I take, so a UTI (which is generally far worse for a woman) bringing on our condition is, sadly, no surprise. I hope the antibiotics work quickly - unfortunately they also make my symptoms much worse. I really hope that is not the case for you - take care.
Hi, As a RLS sufferer I currently have a UTI and I am on day 4 of antibiotics. My RLS hasn’t been any different. X
Thank you all For help.
