Beta blockers

Hi all .. I’m on the verge of trying prescription meds , I’ve spoken on here about it and got some advice and potential options , has anyone been on beta blockers and find that stopping them helped ? I’ve been on propranolol for over 20 years , had mild rls for over 10 years and now severe rls for the last few months ,hardly getting any sleep , constantly woken up by both legs sometimes arms and I feel my face contorts as well 🥴very strange , maybe I should try coming off my beta blockers with my doctors advice before trying pregabalin or gabapentin? I’m on beta blockers for migraine prevention not heart issues .. anyone had similar please 🙏 I’ve tried herbal sleeping tabs , started iron and magnesium as well .. I took diazepam last night just to get some sleep but the rls just pushes through and I’m waking about doped up 🤷🏼‍♀️Not ideal

Actually propranolol can help RLS. I wouldn't come off it.

The doctor just rang and suggested quinine , I said it’s not cramps , she mentioned codeine ? She has put me up a prescription for pregabalin.. is codeine known to help ?

Here is the source on propranol ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Quinine won't help.

Codeine will as will any low dose opioid.

Hi Ronniebongo, Propranolol made my already severe RLS much worse after only 3 - 4 days. It was stopped but had already triggered significant hair loss.

Hi it seems a very individual reaction as Propranolol has been brilliant for my RLS

I have no idea what is causing my rls .. had it for years but recently it’s unbearable , been on propranolol for over twenty years so its probably not linked at all , I’m trying every angle 🤷🏼‍♀️

I just started Gabapentin. Seems to be helping. Tried ropinirole but it made me totally weak and tired.

As codeine was mentioned in passing by my doctor, I bought some over the counter paracetamol and codeine tablets yesterday, legs started at 7pm so I took two tablets it stopped almost straight away , went to sleep at 9pm woke at 11pm rls starting so I took one tablet then one at 3am when it started again , I got some good sleep and feel that the tablets kept the rls at bay unlike taking the valerian or diazepam 🤷🏼‍♀️Been abit drowsy today but legs haven’t started as of yet today , I have a prescription for 15mg codeine coming tomorrow .. see how that goes .. fingers crossed 🤞
