So that's slow release. Some people find it doesn't last the full 12 hrs. It may only cover for 9 or 10.
In my case, I take a 5mg 6hour oxycodone called Oxynorm 5mg. To make up the gap between two doses of your medication.
I was on 25mg Oxycontin and 150mg pregabalin for 5 years. I took 10mg at 10 am, 10mg at 10 pm and 5mg at 2am. I still had severe RLS.
As you are on Oxycontin, the long lasting version, it MAY be causing mini opioid withdrawals as you're taking it once a day.
So 2 options. Ask your GP for the correct prescription of 10mg twice a day, 12 hours apart.
If that doesn't resolve the RLS, you may have the same issue I did. Oxycontin doesn't last 12 hours. The Netflix documentary confirmed that Oxycontin only lasts 4 or 5 hours for the vast majority of people. In that case, a longer lasting opioid like Buprenorphine would be better for you, or try taking 5mg of Oxycontin every 6 hours throughout the day to stop the mini opioid withdrawals ( main symptom is RLS).
My only worry about taking Oxycontin during the day as well as at night is that since taking it I cannot stop sleeping!!Great you may say but if, for example, I go to a really interesting art lecture in the morning I now sleep through most of it!!
I sleep in the car (as a passenger!) watching TV & still want 40 mins sleep every afternoon.
Some may say that is age NOT the oxycontin but at 73 I don't feel old!
I am worried if I take it during the day I will sleep standing up!
Or have I got long covid!!??
So hard to say.
You asked when I take my drugs.
Well
I take 300mg gabapentin at 6.30pm
600mg at 8.30
One 10mg oxycodin at 10pm
600mg gabapentin at 10.30
Plus, If I HAVE to be honest I have one glass of wine with my supper.
For 3 whole months this recipe has worked a treat.
The break through of rls has only been the last 2 weeks.
Perhaps it is just a bad patch & I should be patient.
But I am wondering if I should gradually still go on reducing the gabapentin.
My GP is not pushing me to reduce but leaves me to do what I feel works for me but I think he feels it "might" be better to take less..
Sorry to write such an epistle.
You may fall asleep reading it!
