I currently take a10mg patch per week for chronic pain. I also have the highest dose of cocodamol on my prescription but was told to use sparingl so in crisis will take up to 8 per day.
Following a recent RTA I was told in A& E to take paracetamol! I hade made sure it was noted what I was already prescribed and I therefore did not take paracetamol as well.
I have been readmitted twice with worsening pain but on both occasions was not even offered my prescription medication.
Is there anything they could be offering me or failing any help from GP would it be safe to take 2 patches for a week
I am 77 never abused or become addicted to any form of medication but the pain is just intolerable at present.

Thank you for your reply and helpful information. I agree that chronic pain is totally debilitating. We always feel our pain is ‘the worst it has ever been’ and then life throws you another curve ball!
