I was wondering if anyone has taken GABA supplements for their RLS symptoms and did it help. Thank you!

GABA supplements
I haven't taken them, but they can help.
I tried them. They induce sleepiness and are helpful for mild RLS.
GABA, not to be confused with Gabapentine, is gamma-aminobutyric acid - the relaxing neuro transmitter in the brain. It cycles with Glutamate, the excitable neurotransmitter. So, excess Glutamate makes you feel awake and alert and GABA can make you feel relaxed and drowsy. I have tried it numerous times to help with sleep - not really any good results. Many researchers doubt the ability of GABA supplements to cross the blood/brain barrier. More reading link below... (I actually paid for a consultation with the author, Cynthia Perkins). Her recommendation was to initiate a Keto diet to help with Glutamate dominance.

Thank youDicCarlson. That is an interesting article, but does confuse me more. Out brains are so complex. I have been trying to follow the metro diet. I have mixed results.
Not necessarily specific for RLS, but this is compelling research for mental health...
