Fallen off the wagon

So despite my good intentions to keep away from carbs, refined sugar, sugary drinks and processed food, I fell into all of them the last 2 days. The only trigger I’ve avoided is booze. I have been having great success with Kratom but even 2 1/2 tspns of tea hasn’t helped tonight. I know it’s my own fault but it’s such a bitch! Better get back on it tomorrow and hope it doesn’t take too long to redress the balance. #dumbass

Christmas is a difficult time to be good: you'll get back to it!

Good day, Theonlypetied, and hope you are doing better. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Not sure which foods, if any, do, in fact, make RLS worse when consumed in moderation.

Did you get the TV program "Seinfeld" in UK? If so, my own experience yesterday was a bit reminiscent of the episode where George Costanza was caught eating food that had been tossed into a kitchen garbage pail. In my case, I had treated myself this past weekend to the purchase of a small quantity of a variety of nuts to which I am not allergic (cashews) and some cookies (chocolate chip).

After eating some nuts and then some cookies (i.e., at least half of the purchased quantity of each), I tossed both in my kitchen garbage pail. To ensure that I would not later retrieve, I scattered the nuts and cookies in the pail outside of their original packages. Fast forward some hours later. I searched the pail to find that, though the cashews were beyond salvation, there yet remained one chocolate chip cookie in its original packaging. I relished every morsel.

As for alcohol: My cabinet is stocked with various brands, types and quantities of some popular species. Though I no longer drink as much or as often as I used to, I remain partial to an occasional "small" glass of Straight Kentucky Bourbon (Old Grand Dad/Wild Turkey, both 100 proof) or Irish Whiskey (Jameson/Bushmills). Last evening, I thought long and hard about whether and which to imbibe. But given that I had not yet gotten fully used to my latest Rx (150 mg pregabalin each evening) and the associated daytime and evening somnolence, I demurred.

Hope this is some consolation. Be well.

I call it the DRIFT, whereby you go into an altered state, next think you are eating like tomorrow. My latest strategy is to try to catch it before it catches me, e.g. the very first inkling i get, I say "gotcha sneaking up on me" had a few successes , so far work in progress
