I am so very, very grateful to those of you who have given me advice and explained the twists and turns of RLS over the recent week. You have given me hope that things can go back to normal.
I took the following advice:
1) I cannot just stop taking ropinirole: I must gradually wean myself off.
2) Take half my normal dose of ropinirole with the new medication (pregabalin) and continue this regime for a while (that timeline is yet to be determined).
3) Instead of following the instructions on the packet, I take the iron supplement tabs late evening without food (the instructions say with food).
I can now see that I can overcome this medicine changeover. Yes I know one night doesn’t mean every night from now on is going to be as peaceful as last night, where I slept for 7 solid hours, but know ing its possible is good.
This forum’s members are far more knowledgeable than my doctors and I cannot thank you enough.
Normally, even on my usual meds, it takes a couple of hours for my limbs to settle but I was asleep in half an hour and woke up 7 hours later. Bliss. My legs are still, my arms are still. I may even just turn over and snooze for another hour!
Give yourselves a huge pat on the folks.
