Hi I'm a 62 year old who has had mild to moderate RLS for about 3 decades. It took me some time to realize that it was restless leg syndrome that was causing my insomnia. After just putting up with it for years I finally set about researching the condition and trying to find some solutions. I have tried numerus therapies most of which didn't work or relieved symptoms for a few nights only. Finally had a bit of a breakthrough with a Iron and magnesium supplement combined with compression sleeves on my calf's at night. This combination gave relief from RLS about 85% to 90% of the time. Recently I became aware of Red Light Therapy. After reading up on the subject I brought a RLT unit and started experimenting. After a couple of months I had another breakthrough moment. I have found that 10 minutes of near inferred targeting my motor cortex (top of head) before bed and 20 minutes of red light exposure on my face in the morning has eliminated restless leg symptoms completely. Best of all the results I'm getting are very consistent. For the first time in decades I get up in the morning feeling rested and in a good mood. I felt the need to share my experience in case it might help someone else.

Iron, Magnesium & Red light Therapy.
That's great that you found something that works for you. Yes red light therapy, iron and magnesium helps many.
Great news. Im sure many others will try it.👍
That's fantastic news. Thanks so much for sharing.
How did you know to do the motor cortex and face?
Was the machine expensive?
And what's the exact name of the RLT unit?
Hi Amrob. Targetting the motor cortex just seemed the obvious thing to try as RLS is often referred to as a nuuralogical problem & the motor cortex of course plays a big roll. As for the face thing, I found using red light before bed not that effective but read that some people find it more benifical in the morning. I think the morning session is probably more about increasing melatonin & getting a good start to the day rather than having a direct effect on RLS. The light therapy unit I have is the Rouge table top. It wasn't cheap at £500 but you need to be careful to get a quality product as some aren't what they claim to be. One thing I forgot in my original post is I also restrict exposure to blue light in the evening by using blue light blocking glasses & led bulbs that don't emit the blue wavelength. Hope this helps.
Thanks for your comprehensive reply Rested.
thank you so much for sharing what helps you.
Good morning, Rested! Thank you for sharing this with us. Can you please explain what inferred targeting my motor cortex (top of head) means and if it's possible to include either a short video showing how you use it, what the unit looks like or a small drawing showing where it is being placed to give you the best benefit? And/or if you can provide the brand name of the unit you bought, that would be immensely helpful. Thanks again so much, and congratulations on finding something that works so well for you! 🤗
