Horrible flight

Despite booking a flight at the time of day my PLMD/RLS isn’t usually active, I spent the whole 5 hours standing up (when allowed) then a whole hour squirming on the coach transfer and then the rest of the day with the worst RLS in months. All despite having taken all my meds. There is no rhyme, reason or consistency with this bloody condition. The flight attendants were absolutely lovely though and even the Captain came out to sympathise with me. Well done easyJet! It wasn’t until after my next lot of meds that it all settled down and I managed to sleep all night from 9pm.

I am so sorry. That must have been miserable. When you return, take a higher dose of your medicine to hopefully prevent that happening again.

I have been there and can fully sympathize with you. I agree with Sue. I learned to take an extra tramadol in those kinds of situations. I will carry a few in my pocket as well. Just having them provides some comfort and gives me better control over the anxiety of RLS.

The odd thing is, the RLS usually stops when I stand up but not yesterday. It was constant!

That sounds absolutely awful. I am dreading my flight to Sydney to see my son in January and know that I will need meds to get me through... we're staying 2 months to make it worthwhile, haven't seen family in 3 years. I'm not on prescription drugs but will try to find something for the flights. Travelling Premium Economy as can't afford Business class...Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks 😔

google therapulse.co.uk I have bought two and attach one to each thigh. The buzzing distracts my legs. I use them at home too. Highly recommend.

Book your flight for early in the day and book an aisle seat so you can get up and walk around and preferably an emergency exit or bulkhead. Pack activities that serve as distractions. If you belong to the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation, download the Restless Legs Syndrome Special Accommodations Card to give to the flight attendant. Otherwise be sure to talk to the flight attendant and explain that you will be walking a lot.

i totally sympathise, it’s happened to me but not for as long as your nasty experience. I worry about this constantly and fear for my sanity sometimes.

I totally sympathise I travelled home from holiday on 3 hour flight and was stuck in window seat. I listened to music and watched the clouds as distractions which I think eventually worked but then after landing was stuck on plane for further 30 mins due to passenger alterfication at rear of cabin which resulted in police attending and delaying disembarkment 🥴

I also agree.

I dread long haul flights to America.

This time we went to Italy but had whole day of on/off plane/trains etc. Was totally exhausted when I got home but legs were the worst EVER. All night ...

I had a more positive experience flying back to UK. I took some Pram an hour before flying. As soon as I sat in my extra leg room seat, I felt the first tingle of RLS. I had to stand for about an hour, once allowed, but was able to sit and catch up on some sleep eventually. I don’t know if or why taking extra Pram in a 24hr period occasionally is not recommended but it was worth it. I’m hoping that whatever meds I get put on after I finish weaning off Pram will radically improve so many aspects of my life.
