If you really want to stop your RLS, you will probably need to go the medication route. if you do, you will want gabapentin. Don't let your doctor prescribe ropinirole or pramipexole. Check out the Mayo Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS which will tell you everything you want to know including about its treatment and refer your doctor to it if needed as many doctors do not know much about RLS or are not uptodate on it Https://mayoclinicproceedings.org/a... Are you taking any other medicines or OTC supplements?
I don't see a lot of room for intervention in the iron results. You seem to have plenty - but alas, probably not in the brain, causing the RLS. Here is an article with more details about iron tests and results. Maybe you can flesh out some additional abnormality. Sue's advice about Gabapentin is probably the best course. bloodtestsresults.com/iron-...
As Sue Johnson said, at this point, simply ask your doctor to follow the new treatment plan for RLS. Start with Pregabalin or Gabapentin. It takes some time to get the benefits, but secondary effects come quickly. They lessen over time. If that doesn't work after a few months, you keep on following the treatment plan (their so-called algorithm) and follow-up with something stronger.
Hi Coladh, I recommend trying 25 to 50mg of ferrous bisglycinate one hour before bed on an empty stomach away from all other supplements and drugs. My RLS disappears in one hour using this method, but must be repeated every night or every night where the RLS is acting up. You should also try not eating anything after about 7pm and until breakfast. Many people on here have found this to be a winning combination for them. And if it doesn’t work for you then it’s a case of no harm no foul. The smallest bottle of ferrous bisglycinate is about $6. I buy the 180 capsule bottle for $10.5 on Amazon. Called Gentle Iron. A night or two of trialing iron and not consuming food will do no harm.
Thank you for your advice, I’ve picked up a jar of Gentle Iron from my health food shop. Just about to take it, it’s 20mg is that enough ? Hope it helps.
