gabapentin: Hi Elsie , Same as you... - Restless Legs Syn...
gabapentin
The withdrawals from the Prami are still affecting you.Give it time.😢
Hiya. I take 600mg at 3.00pm, 600mg at 6.00pm and 900mg at 9.00pm together with 0.125mg Ropinirole. I still get ever so slight RLS when I go to bed (depending on what I have eaten and wine consumption) but those high levels are the only ones that work for me. I tried coming off the Ropinirole completely, but Gabapentin on its own just does not work.
I have used gabapentin and it was not working at all. Terrible medicin, with terrible side effect. I use a small dose of sifrol 0.18 dayli and it works.
To get the best effectiveness of gabapentin take 600 mg 1 to 2 hours before bedtime so I assume you are going to bed at 10:00 or 11:00, 600 mg at 7:00 pm, 600 mg at 5:00 pm, 600 mg at 3:00 pm and 300 mg at 1:00 pm. Taking more than 600 mg at one time reduces its effectiveness and the smallest amount should be taken 1st.
My guess is you are using 300 mg capsules and therefore increasing it 300 mg at a time. If you get to a point where it does work ask for some 100 mg capsules and try reducing the amount you are taking by 100 mg, and if that works by 200 mg so that you are on the lowest dose possible. If you want to switch to pregabalin, divide the amount of gabapentin by 6 to get the equivalent amount. If you want to stop the gabapentin, and you don't need to do so to switch to pregabalin if switching to the equivalent dose, then do so very slowly or you will have withdrawal effects.
