My RL started after a head injury. I think it affected my nervous system and brain, causing my restless leg problems. DR prescribed 1200 mg Gabapentin and 400 mg of Magnesium. I am uncomfortable as my RL occurrences are all over the place. Hence wondering if Hypnosis would offer any relief. RL problems about 2 years now.

Be sure you don't take the magnesium within 3 hours of the gabapentin as it can interfere with its absorption. I hope you are taking the 1200 mg of gabapentin in 2 doses of 600 mg each, one an hour or 2 before bedtime and the other 4 hours before bedtime as the absorption is less in doses over 600 mg. Since you still have symptoms, you might need more gabapentin. According to the Mayo Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS: "Most RLS patients require 1200 to 1800 mg of gabapentin daily." If you need more than 1200 mg, take the extra 6 hours before bedtime.
Yes, I tried hypnosis for my periodic limb movement disorder (by a professional hypnotherapist) and self-hypnosis. Neither made any difference.
I have tried hypnosis and enjoyed it, I have to say that it did not work for me. However, I do not consider myself a good hypnosis subject, even though the hypnotist insisted that anyone could be hypnotized. I have to add that I did try hypnosis for sleep only and had not mentioned my PLMD.
If your rls came on suddenly, then it may well be that something triggered it. Apart from the bang on the head, you may have been given some medications.
Can you think back to that time and recall any other changes? Medication such as statins or antidepressants or antihistamines or anything else.?
