Does anybody have any tips on taking pregabalin. Have been on Clonazepam without success and thinking of trying pregabalin.

Pregabalin
Take it 1 to 2 hours before bedtime and take any magnesium at least 3 hours before that.
Increase slowly and Stop when it is Working. Don't expect perfect, just better. Still be careful About food and Drink triggers.
Thanks for your tip SueJohnson. I'm taking magnesium in a herbal sleep aid at the moment but will stop that before starting pregabalin.
It can take a few days for the effects on an increase or decrease in dosage to settle and become apparent so don’t rush or you may end up taking too much (or too little) before you are ready for it. I left at least a week between changes. It can be slightly disinhibiting a bit like alcohol so it’s worth thinking twice before you go for some personal banter if you want to keep your relationships happy. Also go carefully with alcohol because they have similar effects on your behaviour/judgement. Some people report issues with finding words and getting stuck in conversations, it can be a bit annoying but if you slow down it’s less of an issue and goes away if you come off it.
I’ve been on 150mg for several years now. I’d say I get about 80% success rate which I’m happy with. Any side effects seem to disappear or settle after a few weeks. After augmentation on ropinorole and tolerance of Tramadol this is just so much better. I take one dose a couple of hours before bed.
Thx Pam34. 80% success rate pretty good. Have to say augmentation is my biggest fear which has been the main reason for not trying ropinorole that one doctor did recommend.
Hi,I have a long run (some 25 years) using successufully clonazepam for RLS (maximum 0.5 mg), stopping and backing many times. Tried Pregabalin for some 2 months, it works, nonetheless side effects, for me, surpassed benfiets...
Lots of learnings on clonazepam (currently only 0.3 mg). Important to say, problems with RLS is synonimus with problem on sleep quality, otherwise no medication at all. And Clonazepam aid on sleep, even in minor doses, no side effects. I always keep awakening some three times to go the toilet (other issues also, such UARS; I use a bileve CPAP, lots of information on my nights!); main crisis of RLS around 3 to 4 am. Clonazepam is not meant to stop RLS crisis; for this since two years ago I have been using: EFT + rigorous sleep hygine + sleeping in two stages (interval, like in old timess before buble light, staying awake for some 1 to two hours in early morning, performing EFT, ecomeditation, and reading), which pretty much all days have been returning me rather goo life quality. It looks in my case, anxiety, racing thoughts would be main culprits for RLS. and EFT+clonazepam looks the best combination I ever found to to live with RLS. ( see , just in case, more information on my Replies elsewhere...
all the best and good luck
Pleased you've had some good results from Clonazepam Cowbsky, I found that the dose I started on had to be increased so quickly that I thought it would be hard to ever get off the stuff. Also I seemed to be unsteady on my feet which was a bit worrying. Hope I don't get too many side effects on pregabalin as I tend to be a bit susceptible to those! Thx for your help.
I have just recently started on Pregabalin, it helped my sleeping problems straight away. I am on 100mg and find that works for me, I might have to increase dosage in future. I found it quite stimulating if taken an hour before bed, so now I take my 2nd dose no later than 7pm and it’s much better. Hope you get good results.
Yes it definitely helps me to sleep, after years of lying awake until my legs settled down, I don’t sleep for 8 hours, but probably 5 hours but I can usually get back to sleep which is great for me. Good Luck
