I have just started on Oxycodone to replace Oramorph... 5 mg fast relief . Suffering from Bladder Camcer. Problem is that I then need a laxative because both of the above make me constipated. Oxycodone appears not to react well with Dulcosoft laxative. Anyone any suggestions ?

Oxycodone and Laxative
You could try the max dose of magnesium citrate at night, that helps many or ask for Targinact which is Oxycontin with Naloxone. The naloxone blocks absorption of the Oxy in part of the gut to avoid constipation. It's more expensive so GP may refuse and prescribe fibrogel instead.
To be honest I am on Targinact & even though it has the Naloxone combination it's not effective. I have to resort to laxatives like Laxido to keep it moving. But the relief of Targinact compensates.
I empathise! I get really bad constipation with Oramorph and have to take Laxido, which to be honest is still not very effective. Can I ask why you came off the Oramorph?Hope you get relief soon. And huge good luck with your cancer treatment. X
Dioctyl for constipation now as it works better with Oxycodone ( apparently). Put on Oxycodone because it’s more powerful but doesn’t affect the renal function like Oramorph.Lots of pain with BC and bleeding .
Thanks for your good wishes
I used Polyethylene glycol 3350 powder packs after surgery to prevent constipation and I was taking oxycodone at the same time.
Hi Bramcote - I note nobody has suggested more fibre - mainly from fruit and vegetables. I have taken oxycodone in the past and now on buprenorphine and have no difficulty with constipation. Perhaps because of your bladder cancer there are dietary constraints. I have blood cancer and cannot eat certain things so I know this can be a problem. I do not like to medicate for constipation if there is a more natural way. I take oral chemotherapy and my buprenorphine so if I can avoid taking any more tablets that is good. I also take porridge or no sugar Alpen. I wish you well and empathize with you. Take care.
Thanks. You take care too . My operation is to take the bladder out but because of previous treatments this will be nigh on impossible. I will have a Urinary Divert then Radiotherapy.... multiple issues concerning pain relief and their side effects ( especially constipation ). If that can be sorted then it will be “easier “ to manage .
We keep going !!!
All the very best
Of course Fiber is a good first step (AM) and also try Triphala (PM) - a GREAT herbal treatment.
Thanks for your reply .. multiple allergies doesn’t help !!
Prunes at night?
Hi, have been suffering from RLS for 16 years, due to a bad bike accident last year I have been taking 15-20mg of Oxynorm for back pain since last September, this also keeps my RLS at bay. For the constipation I eat 1 or 2 Kiwi fruit a day, works well.
I take a combination of drugs for my severe RLS, including oxycodone. All of which cause constipation and add to my IBS-C. I’ve have a box full of prescriptions drugs with various results. Right now I’m getting the best results by taking fiber gummies twice a day. I’m 79.
