Mirtazapine has a very high chance of causing RLS. Are you taking it for depression? Do you already have RLS?Most anti depressants worsen it. If you are taking it for anxiety or to help with sleep, a benzodiazepine like clonazepam or an Alpha2Delta ligand like pregabalin would be better. ( I'm also a Julie from Liverpool- although moved South decades ago)

Mention it to your GP as it clearly causes leg problems for many people.Perhaps your GP will suggest another anti depressant and as you don't suffer from RLS, you will be able to take others without problems.

Those of us with RLS cannot take most anti depressants as they worsen our disease.

Hope you find a solution.

Quinine is no longer used because of heart issues. It was supposed to help cramps but doesn't.If the pain is caused by the Mirtazapine, which studies seem to show is the case, it will be weighing up the pros and cons. If other anti depressants didn't help you, your GP may need to trial nerve pain killers. Quinine won't help pain. Sounds like your GP is struggling so maybe ask for a referral to a pain clinic.
