Oxycodone.. it works for my husband

Hi friends I felt like I needed to update. I was vehemently against the use of any opioids because at one time my husband was trying to self medicate which didn’t work well. He’s literally tried everything. He met a doctor who is helping him tremendously. He’s using 10 mg a night for the last 4 months. No restlessness, and it doesn’t knock him out either. I wanted to share this in case it can help someone else! Thank you

That is wonderful news. It must be an enormous relief for you both after a traumatic time 😊

I am using oxycodone (at a much higher dose than your husband) to help with withdrawal from ropinirole. I was having a dreadful time (took my final dose of ropinirole just over a week ago).

I intend to lower my dose of oxycodone after a few weeks have passed and then continue on a lower dose indefinitely.

Your story gives me hope that soon things will improve for me also!

I hope your husband has lasting success with his treatment and what a bonus it is to find a caring helpful doctor! 🤗

We also hope the same for you. It’s good for us all to be open. That’s why I wanted to share. It’s amazing to see he’s not suffering! And it’s Also good to see he’s not walking around like a zombie from a bunch of meds that didn’t suit him. (Even some herbal things turned him into a walking zombie.. ) believe me I am grateful. He was one of the people that was augmenting from sifrol/pramipexole. It was terrible to see what he’s been through and I would pray that any doctor that reads this, please know you can also save someone’s life with the right medication.

Thankyou for your kind thoughts 😊

So true!

I often think that one of the biggest educations into RLS that a doctor could have is visiting this forum!

Real life experiences, the awful suffering and importantly solutions that work.

Links to up to date research etc...

I have urged medical professionals that I have come into contact with to visit this forum which is a real gem.

I really sing it's praises and emphasise the quality of this forum.

Some appear to have listened whereas others just look uninterested... infuriating! 😤

My Gp let me go on small dose ms contin (morphine) extended release after going 5 days with no rls following a night in emerge with a kidney stone. The morphine they gave me for pain interrupted the rls. Now I am 2 yrs without the rls...as long as I take the morphine.

Thanks for sharing. RLS is a real problem. I use tramadol once a day it helps but does not stop the restlessness however it does seem if I move around a lot during the day that helps with the tramadol

Yes he’s not restless at all. Tramadol can be a bit tricky because it creates augmentation.

I finally got my relief from low dose slow.release morphine. I find the ms Contin easier to reduce dosage when I feel I don't need so much compared to the other types of opioids.

Thank you for the courage to add to the growing knowledge that, for many of us, low-dose opioids (10 mg methadone for me) have completely changed our lives for the better.

Yes thank you... i have to admit I’m really happy he’s not suffering!!! We can actually do things together and enjoy life. We’ve been together 15 years and I have seen him suffer with this condition since I’ve been with him. I admit I was very against opiates, but it’s a low dose and guided by a caring doctor. I hope more People get relief ❤️
