Medication review

I have decided to ask my GP for a medication review after having too many nights with horrendous rls and concerns about the amount of medication I take and the suspicious that my surgery practice hands out tablets like smarties.

I would appreciate any advice I could say to my GP over a telephone consultation. They don’t do face to face any!

The lack of sleep is getting me down and I’m afraid that when it comes to make my case over the phone like many other patients I will get tongue tied and miss the relevant questions I need to ask.

Here is a list of my medication:-

1- Bisoprolol fumarAte 1.25 mg one per day

2-Tamfrex ex. Capsules 400 mg one per day

3- Apixaban 5mg two per day

4-Pregabalin 75mg two per day

5- Codeine 30 mg two per day

6- Pramipexole 0.088mg ( cut in half) one per day

Do you think this is excessive could it be making my Rls worse

I don’t know and I get the impression the doctor doesn’t know either!

You could Google each one separately ( med and rls) and see what comes up.At least it'll take your mind of it for 40 minutes.🧐😜

Hi, your practice should, in its contract, review your medicines yearly, either themselves or with the help of their pharmacist. My advice would be just to ask, for each individual medicine - what is it for, do you still need it, what of your symptoms might be a side effect and if necessary is there an alternative.

I have some medical knowledge so can see from your list that you probably have several different long term conditions which either need controlled or treated or effects prevented ( won’t explain in detail but you’ll know what they are).

It’s always useful to discuss treatment with dr from time to time.
