Hi, I’m jade and I’ve only posted on here once before, but have been reading everyone’s advice and experiences. Dopamine agonists stopped working for me within months after starting them so I’ve been having a lot of trouble for a while now. I was wondering if anyone who has tried lyrica/ pregabalin could tell me their experience with it? have RLS for most of the day and I’ve tried several meds including gabapentin and received iron infusion a while back)
Question for anyone on lyrica - Restless Legs Syn...
Question for anyone on lyrica
Hi I've been taking pregabalin along with codeine phosphate now for a while with a good degree of success not prefect by a long way but from where I was im taking it no real side effects either
Hi. I was on pregabalin 300g morning and night. Wasn’t quite there with sensation free days but asked to come off them as felt in a drunken stupor at times, could fall asleep at the drop of a hat and really deep and noisy plus munchies and moody. Now on targinact opioid 10/5mg plus 2mg patch neupro and doing fine.
Hi, may I ask do you take the targin morning and night or only at night? Thanks
Hi. I’m on 10/5 mg morning and evening.
Ok thanks, I was on same dose for 3 yrs, now no longer working 😟
Oh no. That’s a shame. Goes up to 40mg I believe. Don’t seem to like giving high doses. How did you feel whilst on it. Any noticeable side effects out of interest. I’m on 2mg neupro patch daily too.
My msg wasn’t really accurate, 10 mg twice a day gave me NO rls for 3 mths. Then I started to cut out morning dose as I felt it wasn’t needed. That dose didn’t always work, had many unbearable nights. I am n9w taking 15mg at night and still having horrendous nights (plus 75mg lyrica)
Side effects for me hot flushes, complete loss of appetite, depression,
Dry mouth, more sensitivity to pain
Hi. I was on gabapentin and switched to Pregabelin which I prefer. They are very similar so I don’t think the Pregabelin will help you much more than the gabapentin did.
Hi Jade. I think I need a new pair of glasses. I wondered if lycra would have an effect on RLS, then my mind went into overdrive, spandex, and all. Methinks you should join in more often, you've made my day.
I took pregabalin for a year, 300mg a day, and found it did improve my sleeping although a part of that was a reduction in anxiety. I did have small weight gain but it stabilised and I think it was about caring less about what I ate more than the drug, certainly didn't disappear when I came off it! I stopped because it had partly done the job which was to make me less anxious about neuropathic pain which was the main reason I took it. Also I did feel slightly dull and less considered, it's a bit like the effects of alcohol after a couple of drinks but less obvious. There were a couple of other slight side effects e.g. a hesitation when starting speech or trying to find a word but it wasn't serious and I was fairly happy when I was on it. I prefer to be off though and try to manage RLS via iron and magnesium supplements and careful exercise.
I found pregabalin to be more effective than gabapentin. (I had an infusion too). Gabapentin was so inconsistent, I was taking every 2 hours. Switched to 300mg of pregabalin, so much better. Did the iron infusion help your RLS in any way?
Hi there! No I haven’t had success with gabapentin. I think it was negatively impacting my mood and it didn’t change my symptoms much except for making me drowsy the next day
Been on Pregabalin (Lyrica) for a month so not a long time. I was on Robinotrol for a year and went off. It worked but it was making me depressed. It took me a week to twerk Lyrica. I found it needed a 2 hr. time before going to bed. I have been RLS free now for free weeks. Hope it continues. I will appreciate every hour of this freedom. Oh yes, I am on 50 mg. Before Lyrica my legs were flaying in bed and jerking out of bed for hours. Gabapentin did nothing for me.
Hi Jademarie1I use Lyrica 100mg twice a day midday and bedtime together with one Targin 10/5 mg tablet. I have RLS now for years 30+ did not bother me so much while I was working full on but now retired and time on my hand it plays havoc with me till I had this combination.
Hope this will be a help to you
