Just wanted to say thanks for advice given in a previous post I did here - was about to transfer GPs and was looking for current advice to take to them, seeing it as a chance to make some headway with a new GP!
Anyway! As a last throw of the dice I contacted my current GP through that eConsult, listing out advice given here. I was contacted by someone new, who agreed to put me on a starter dose of Pregabalin.
It’s been about a month and a half now, and I can’t stress how much of a difference it has made to me. On the third night of taking it, I was just laughing in bed because it felt so weird that I could just lay there without my legs dictating my whole night. Just a relief that I didn’t quite know how to deal with outside of just laughing! I think it also made me realise just how much pain I was in with the restless legs - I think it had been such a constant for so long, I hadn’t realised that what I was often feeling was pain in my legs, cramping and tension.
Aware this is a thing that requires everyone to find a particular solution (and often a particular solution at a particular time), just very glad that this has done the trick for me - and thank you so much to everyone here. Now armed with an existing prescription, meeting my new GP a week Monday, hopefully it’s all smooth sailing…
Ah, thanks again all!

Thank you, aluminium, for your positive posting. 🌹🌻🌺 So happy that you received helpful advice from our community and it is working for you. Do let us know how you go on.
That is wonderful -- as others have said. I just want to comment, as Manerva did to someone else a while back (and then apologized) that not all of us get back to normal. Some lucky ones do, but many of us are only gifted "better". The reason I add this is for years of searching for relief I was expecting more than I got and went through dozens of meds and withdrawals. I think that history might have been different if I had not had such high expectations. I do now relax more because it is "better" for me, not perfect, but better (also with pregabalin).
Absolutely, you’re right - important to remember all of what you’ve said there.
I was unsure about whether to post this message originally, as I didn’t want to be insensitive around how difficult others have it, or how difficult it can be to find even temporary relief. I decided to in the end to thank those giving advice here, and also to show appreciation for this place. I get my daily email from HealthUnlocked but rarely post here, but I do really value that this place is here to offer support. Even sometimes just as a place for people to vent, full of other people who can show understanding for what they’re going through.
So even if this is just me having a good month or so with relief, it’s down to the support offered here, and I’m so incredibly grateful for it.
