Stumbled on this video. I know RLS is NOT the same as essential tremors, but was curious to see what Dr Greger (who I adore!) said about essential tremors.. just in case it could help me.

Let me Explain. 1Parkiinsons tremmor happens at rest. It is NON_INTENTIONAl. As soon as a parkinsons client moves. the tremmor stops until the movement is stopped. the tremmor resumes 2) An ESSENTAL NTENTONAL TREMMOR s qte ntl yo move. Jst the opposte of Parknson. The Thyms shold e looked at for ntentonal. The thyrod Sholld e looked at also for all tremors. Parknsons happens deeper n the ran. RLS may e assocoated wth hypthyrod prolens of harmone ncldng ron. Do not take my advce t google yorself. Hand tremor on movement, have. t s assocated wth the BRAIN BARRIER. What is the brain barrier. About time you googled

Interpretation (possibly)

Tremor when at rest is known as non-intentional.

Tremor when moving is known as intentional.

Non intentional tremor is considered as typical of Parkinson's disease.

Intentional tremor is associated with other disorders e.g. Essential tremor or dystonia.

Parkinson's originates in the substantia nigra in the basal ganglia of the brain.

Essential tremor is also thought to originate in the brain. Possibly the cerebellum.

One treatment considered for tremor (of either type) is DBS (Deep brain stimulation) of the thymus, a structure in the brain.

Another is MRI guided Focussed Ultra Sound.

Tremors are also associated with thyroid problems, but I don't think with essential tremor.

RLS can be exacerbated by hypothyroidism.

I'm not sure what the Blood Brain Barrier has to do with any of this.

My own comment.

Interesting that this video is suggesting that if you eat meat you are more likely to suffer essential tremor. The more meat you eat, the more its likely to occur.

It's possibly one of those statistical things, I have developed essential tremor and I've been vegetarian for 45 years.
