Internal tremors?

Has anyone experienced internal tremors? I mostly notice them when I’ve been trying to rest and upon waking. Not sure if this is a symptom of RLS or something else.

No have not experienced internal tremors but see what others here say. Hope you find some relief and support.

Yes, I have, a really funny sensation isn't it! I didn't know what to put it down too really, probably a mixture of things, lack of sleep, stress or anxiety or all three at the time. Mine was at night when I went to bed. Happened a few times, but not since things settled with OxyContin/Pregabalin.

I have, but only very occasionally. Not sure why, but they soon pass. I thought I was the only one!

If I understand correctly, internal tremors might be creeping tingling uncontrollable eye movements bubbling face crawling under skin rarely go I have the urge to move or get antsy. Just bizzare sensations head to toe even on my back which feels like it turns to stone. When these tactile “hallucinations” are present, my brain will not stop being very alert. Mostly during the day, I don’t notice much if I’m physically active!

Being active totally helps. I have all of that but when I have an “episode of this particular feeling,” it’s like I’m shaking on the inside ... but not on the outside. Do you notice that?

Yes. I have asked others to watch me, as I experience these symptoms, and the eye movements, which occur only when my eyes are closed, and the bubbling on my calves, are the only ones which have been witnessed.

I think people get tired of hearing about it. When I'm busy, moving around, I feel almost none of the sensations, except for the ones in my back. That never seems to leave, but lessens.

Hi, yes l get these tremors too, mostly when l am sleeping and waking up. The sensation is hard to describe, something like an internal tremor.

I feel like l am shaking but l know l am not.

I have spoken to my GP and Neurologist but they look at me like lm crazy!

Maybe they are adrenaline rushes? I get them every night.

Sometimes they are very mild and far between, but some times they are extremely strong and can come in waves one after the other all night.

It’s good to know it’s not only me.

Could you describe in more detal what the tremors are like?

They are just like Legsandmore decribed in the above reply.

It's almost as if I am 'plugged in.' Like electrical charge running along with my blood stream, sometimes rhythmically. Difficult to describe really. Mine are present over my whole body and face/head. I also experience bubbling (which is visible at times) tingling, burning, pulling sensations.

Always worse at night. Some nights I don't sleep at all, not one moment. I don't take any drugs anymore. When I DO go to sleep, I feel nothing. If I wake after sleeping an hour or so, the sensations are much worse than when I went to sleep.

Hi, as l said in my reply to FluteE, the tremors are hard to describe but are similar to the feeling you get when you get a sudden shock. You know that tingle/ tremor type of rush you get when someone jumps out and says BOO!

Someone less described them like an internal electric shock, not painful but can be uncomfortable.

If l get a bad night with them l feel totally drained the next day. These tremors are often the precursor to getting very hot and sweaty. I had numerous tests for a possible cardio problem, but nothing was found. It’s a mystery really and something l have lived with for over 10 yrs. I hope that helps x

Do you ever get pounding heart beat with these sensations?

FluteE profile image

Yes, my heart pounds and feels like it’s racing... however, my pulse rate is not elevated.

Yes my heart seems to pound and feels raced.

I frequently have this internal tremor. It feels like everything is shaking and pounding but there is NO external tremor. It seems to be part and parcel of my RLS..not pleasant but passes off eventually and returns again spontaneously and sporadically. I am on the patch and never experienced them prior to the patch.

Pramipexole .25 mg 2-3 hrs before bedtime is the on prescribed med I take. I also take supplements of D, B, iron, and magnesium.

Yes I think I know what you mean. Feels like a small vibrator in my legs until my meds kick in

I have similat feelings. Now under some control taking Stilnox (a benzodiaz 1mg), and Trazadone. I have taken any meds recommended for RLS. No one is working. It seems if I have an small internal motor that doesn't stop never and is the origin of my RLS. Being active I have any problem. I get the when I go to bed. Actually I can sleep up to 7 hours with few interruptions.

Yes I get them badly from Valium but especially Tradol and Paxam

Sorry Tramadol

I have these internal tremors too. Like I am plugged into something. My doctor says it is the struggle between the RLS and the meds fighting for control. I could only calm them by upping the meds, but that way leads to trouble, so I put up with them. End of story.

That’s interesting. I don’t want to up meds either. Thanks.

Sure. They come and go. Never know when to expect them. More common of course in the evening when I am still.
