Horizant Advice Please

I had my first dose last night and had a horrendous night, twitching and little sleep. How many days should I take it, before I give it up completely? I wouldn't say it was an allergic reaction, but just not the one I was hoping to get. The doctor told me to stop the Gabepentin cold turkey, which I did. Not sure that was the best advice. Not taking anything else right now. Thanks gang!!!

What dose of gabapentin were you on? And the new dose of Horizant?

And do you take magnesium or antacids, or any medication for stomach ills?Thank you.

I was on 900 mg of Gabepentin and am on the 1 pill, 600 mg of the Horizant. I don't take any supplements at the moment. No stomach ills right now, but didn't get a wink of sleep and felt hyped.

Horizant worsened my insomnia causing me to wake up every hour

Well, this is my third and last night for the Horizont. It's 5:30 in the morning and I have yet to sleep. What a disappointing and utterly miserable experience. At least I got about 5 hours of sleep Thursday night. It's sad when 5 hours feels like a victory. Glad for connections in this blog. It's comforting to know that someone understands!!!!!

Last night was the first night I did not take Horizont and I had the best night sleep. It was making me so nauseous and made my PlMD worse. I was on it for almost 4 months. The first 2-3 months were good. Then on the 3 month it got worse. But you should definitely not take gabapentine and horizont at the same time. They are too similar in their chemistry.

I hope this helps.

Yes, thank you. Last night was better, but I will be aware of the usual augmentation/pills that work and then don't, and will make sure not to take the regular Gabapentin in the mean time.

I didn’t do well with Horizant either. It really didn’t quell the RLS and it seems to make me feel depressed.
