Hi hoochybaby I have been on most medications, most resent pregablin pramipexole & codeine which was increased to 60mgs . I am awaiting a telephone consultation with my nurologist. As I am now aware that the side effects of these meds are not good also I am sure I am augmenting. Codiene can help, but due to other issues now doesn't work. Hope this helps shaft 1952

Hi.I'm so sorry to hear you are augmentating.I have never taken DA's so can't help you with that.I do know you need to cut down very slowly .But others can advise you on that. You may have built up a tolerance to the codeine and so it has stopped working. It did for me.You could change to Tramadol to help you through augmentation. Huge good luck. X

I wouldn't touch tramadol again, comming of it is a nightmare. Worse than comming of RLS medication. Shaft1952

Oh dear I'm sorry to hear that.I don't take it every day to avoid tolerance and withdrawal symptoms. Perhaps gabapentin would suit you.x

I had side effects from gabapentin, plus you need bloods to check for liver issues. Check your information leaflet. Shaft1952

Really, I never had any when I was put on gabapentin

Just to say, it's true that gabapentin does cause side effects, but not everyone is affected by them to the same degree. They usually settle down after a few weeks, but obviously if the side effects outweigh the benefit of the drug even after a few weeks, then it's only right to stop taking it.

Yo don't need blood tests for liver issues when taking gabapentin. It isn't metabolised by the liver and has no effect on it. It is directly eliminated through the kidneys. In that case, it there is any apparent problem with glomerular filtration rate, (GFR), it needs to be insvestigated.
