Trying desperately to find something that will allow me even some sleep. Getting very little now and my outlook is diminishing quickly. Currently on Tramadol which is hit or miss. Some nights sort of ok and others not working at all

Anyone doing well (or not) on Buprenorphine
If it helps, I take Welbutrin, which I believe is the same thing. I take it twice a day. My outlook was diminishing, I really needed help. I think it helps me. I asked the Doctor to refill it.
Hi WideBody,
Actually buprenorphine is an opioid. Not sure which class of opioids.
Wellburtin is an anti depressant if I'm not wrong.
I’m taking Temgesic 200mcg (UK) which is a micro dose of buprenorphine. I find it excellent. Very effectively controlling my RLS and no troubling side effects.
Have a look at my posts and replies in the members area.
I’ve only been taking it a month and it’s made a huge difference to my life and well being. I feel as if I have a future again.
Let me know if you need any more details.
And look at Shumbah’s posts. She’s been taking buprenorphine a year.
I've just come off Tramadol, please be careful when doing so as the withdrawal is horrendous. My consultant said to just stop taking it and I had shakes, flu like symptoms and no sleep for a week. The new medication, Targinact, is having little effect on my rls and I am desperately trying to get Buprenorphine. I have heard such good things about it, I will come back to the forum and report on if I get it and how I get on.
I wish you well mmb8083, keeping us sufferers informed on this forum is a terrific aid. Comments here proved I was not going mad, I was not the only one and the advice and information is wonderful.
I tried Temgesic but am unable to put up with the accompanying nausea...
Hi, I had a bit of nausea on the first day or so but it soon passed. I'd be interested to know what dosage were you taking and at what times through the day. And are you in the UK?
Sorry it didn't work for you.
Thanks Puzzler. From memory it was either 100 or 200 mcg (i.e. either a full Temgesic tablet or a half one). It wasn't mild nausea unfortunately but rather a strong urge to vomit most of the night!
I wish I were able to tolerate it as I read of such positive results from others.
I'm in Australia.
Sorry you had trouble with it. Temgesic is pretty new here in the UK for RLS and so everyone's experience with it is very interesting. I thought you might be on some high dose to cause the reaction but that's about the same dose as I'm taking.
Thanks and very best wishes for the future. At least you've got the summer to look forward to. .......... actually, I suppose it's summer all year long there!
Thanks 😊
Yes, summer is definitely on its way ..we had some high 30's (degree) days here last week (and still a month out from the official start of summer).
I have the same problem with tramadol...
Sometimes it works great and then other times it's like I haven't taken any. I wonder sometimes if the capsules are empty by mistake or by the drug companies trying to stop addiction. Just my thoughts because I cannot get my head around it.
I take the pill form so that probably isnt the case but its as though I took nothing the nights it does not work. I cant understand it
I started temgesic 6 days ago. I am still experimenting with dose. I seem to need between 2 and 3 tablets of 0.2 mg to control my rls.
I take the first around 8.30/9 and the second about one and a half hours later. Some nights I need a third at about 1 or 2 am. Other nights I have slept through which is unusual for me - and very welcome.
I get pretty bad headaches every night, presenting at about 5 am. They usually clear up by about 9am but once or twice stayed all day. These could be side effects or they could be because my body is missing the Kratom that I would otherwise be taking to control my rls.
Since starting temgesic I have reduced my nightly dose of 0.088mg pramipexole by half and hope to eliminate that drug at least for a while using temgesic.
I do get mild nausea and dizziness but nothing unbearable. I also find I get very tired in the late afternoon and seem to need more sleep than with kratom. I get Vivid dreams.
All in all it’s been a positive experiment so far for me. I don’t think I’ll stay on temgesic long term as it looks like it aggravates my central sleep apnea but to give me a break from prami it is useful.
It is much more effective at controlling my rls than oxycontin which was a bit hit and miss. Temgesic doesn’t cause nocturnal alerting which was a major problem for me on oxy. Also, I feel more normal during the day than I did on oxycontin. I haven’t tried tramadol so can’t compare them.
