Hi everyone..I write on here from time to time..as I've had restless legs on and off for years.

Recently it's been not soooo bad..

I've managed to take more iron and supplement that with rose hip and cod liver oil..

I also make sure I have enough magnesium..

These simple steps have made a difference.. and I'm getting more sleep.

My iron levels have risen too.

Best wishes to everyone..

I am a bit scared to mention this in case I jinx myself but my legs have improved and this week I have slept fairly well this week. My GP found I have a deficiency in both ferritin and haemaglobin so I started ferrous sulphate about 3 weeks ago and I started myself on magnesium about a month ago so which ever it is something is helping. I have also cut down the pramipexole by a third and counting so hopefully on the up fingers crossed.

Hi..yes..I think the iron levels and ferritin etc..brain iron...is very important also magnesium....I am plodding in with this route and trying hard not to have"the drugs"...

Good luck with it all..

It's so good to hear of one person managing their RL condition. it's encouraging that you are on top of your condition.

Hi..yes.. well it comes and goes..

Iron doesn't really agree with my system but I am persevering with the dose..I forget to take somedays..

If I wake up with restless legs..I take a second ferrous sulphate 200 mg tablet and a magnesium tablet and within 15 minutes it seems to do the trick...

Then I can sleep..

Did your doctor prescribe the magnesium tablets or did you buy over the counter knowing magnesium helps?

Great that the iron is woking for you. It will actually work better if you only take it every other day, NOT every day. This is due to a substance called hepcidin. This will also upset your gut less.

Furthermore, if you take it on an empty stomach and drink a glass of orange at the same time, it will be even more effective as vitamin C aids absorption.

"Gentle" iron isn't as strong, but it is less upsetting for your gut.

Not what you're looking for?
