Does anyone else have a child with RLS?

Wondering if anyone has had success seeing a pediatric neurologist through the NHS? I'm going to the doctor to ask for a referral for my 5 year old. I have recommendations for Dr Adrian Williams and Dr Guy Leschziner at Guys and St. Thomas's as well as Dr Ray Chaudhuri at Kings from lovely people here. Just wondering if we should be asking to see a pediatric neurologist? As it's predominantly an adult condition do pediatric specialists in RLS even exist!??

I cannot help but I sure do have sympathy for you. 😞. My friend who did so much research believes it lack of magnesium in our soil. There are so many types it’s hard to tell. The L-Threonate would be good to ask a pharmacist about. Good luck.

Not at all uncommon in children - the growth demands of children use iron and can cause a deficiency leading to RLS. I had iron deficiency anemia as a child - and no RLS 'till an older adult.

I have no idea but I know there wasn't anyone around to help, for even to believe when I had it at 5. Your child is lucky to have your belief and your help. Good luck to you both.

Sorry to say my grandson is two he has it ,I had it from childhood and 2 of my children have it and my niece . There is a retired paediatrician in Australia I have been conversing with he is currently in Germany . Although retired he is still trying to make changes as they have not allowed treatment in Australia yet for children .

Sorry that’s not of any help to you

Hot water bottles really help and a heated blanket .

Cbd oil on the skin if you can access it

That’s what my daughter uses on her son

All the best 🙂

So great that you were able to recognise the signs in your grandson. My daughter was 3 when we first really knew something was wrong but looking back she probably had it earlier as she always hated the car and had earlier periods of crying to sleep even in the bed with us. We've only just from this forum been able to give it a name after 2 years, I find it unbelievable how uneducated GPs are about it. We have 4 in our practice and I still feel like they think it's a behaviour or psychological and that I'm waiting their time. It's such a hidden condition that nobody understands how awful it is. If she's in the car just with us she'll be wailing but if anyone else is there she's really self conscious about it and tries to hold it in, ive realised it then comes out as her being really irritable. Just feel really bad for her and as helpful as this group has been its also made me worried for the future xx

Thanks everybody. I went to the Dr yday and he gave me a form to fill in the name of the Dr I want to be referred too. It all seemed really positive and easier than i thought it was going to be till I gave in the form at reception and they told me it will go to triage and they will decide who we see anyway. Now I'm wondering whether the Dr was just trying to get rid of me 😔 I also asked to see a dietician/nutritionalist but he said you have to be diagnosed with a condition before they are allowed to refer to them. Shumbah interesting, ive heard cbd oil mentioned before xx

Apply to the skin it’s not perfect but safe . I

Told may daughter to

Order the cbd leg soother i

Put up last night , I

Had forgotten to tell her to try it .

My daughter herself was successfully with an iron infusion, I will tell her to get his iron checked I honestly did not think of that .Things we all know can stare us in the face and we don’t see them .

Thank god for reminders on this site🙂
