To coincide with International RLS Day on 23 September Lucy Hoekstra, who lives in the Netherlands, has lived with RLS for many years, during which she says she has encountered ignorance from doctors and the public at large about the condition.

Fed up, she decided to do something about it and has committed to raise awareness by walking no less than 573 kilometers over 26 days from late August until mid-September. Lucy is completing the walk as part of the #brainlifegoal initiative launched by the European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA).

On 28 August Lucy will begin walking through the northern part of The Netherlands and Germany and she will finish in Krusbjerg, Denmark, on September 23rd – International RLS Day.

In her own words, Lucy wants "the world to learn about Restless Legs Syndrome".

Should you wish to learn more about the walk she is undertaking, commencing on 28 August, please visit walkwithlucy.com or follow her on her FB page facebook.com/ineintsjeom/?_...

Good for her! She is right, the only way we can overcome this terrifying and very harmful ignorance is to get up and do something.

Lucy, you go Girl.

I have already done so.

If we all did something like her, RLS-ignorance would be blown away in a week.

Lucy is on Day 2 of the walk, raising awareness of RLS.

If you are able to support her with a few words of encouragement I am sure she will be most happy to read them. Wouldn't you, if you had committed to do something like this to help other RLS sufferers? :) Links at beginning of this thread.:)
