Pregabalin advice

I would very much appreciate some wisdom from Pregabalin users .I am going to give it a go because opiates have stopped working for me. I'm not holding out much hope because Gabapentin made me feel so ill. However, I have nothing to loose in trying it. How long before bed do people take it to be effective and what are you finding is the lowest effective dose? Thanks very much in anticipation of your help.x

Hi

I’ve been on Pregabalin for a year and over a week I built up to a dose of 150mg. I’ve had no reason to increase it since. I take it about 8ish for bed about 10ish.

I find it pretty good, 80% coverage I’d say. No daytime RLS since I stopped ropinirole. I’d never touch another dopamine drug.

Things to watch for. A few balance issues if I get up in the night but nothing serious. A ravenous appetite - I eat very healthily but I have to remind myself to stop. I think it would be easy to ignore that so I have to be strong willed! Daytime sleepiness sometimes. And I’ve noticed sometimes I can’t remember a word or name but that might just be my age😂

All in all I’m as happy as I can be on any drug (I’d rather not have to take it or any other ) and the side effects are worth putting up with for a relatively good nights sleep and no daytime symptoms.

You have to give it 2-3 weeks to be effective and for side effects to settle as with any new drug.

Good luck

Pam

Hi Beady3 Tramadol has stopped working for me and also I think I am experiencing augmentation. Do you know if Gabapentin does this? Thanks

I was finding that taking it in the evening was making me very tired by 10.00 and that is when I watch the news or tried to. I now take it when I go to bed 300mg with a small dose of nortriptyline. It knocks me out.
