Off the requip!

Hey all!

I started the ropinerole back in february. I've always had this affliction to some degree.

I started on .25mg which helped for the first week.

I had a couple nights of bad rls, my dr. said take .25 at 6pm then another before bed.

Rls bit better but anxiety increased and began have the same repetitive thought/dream. No rls in right leg anymore (usually mainlythat side before) but rls in left leg. More anxiety and thought (it was never racing thoughts, just one 2 minute scenario over and over).

Dr said reduce to .25 two hours before bed.

Still no improvement.

Heard enough about augmentation to know this med it not working and upping the dose was a bad idea.

I cut back to a 1/2 then a 1/4 of a pill. Dr upped my gabapentin (taking for nerve pain due to injury as well as anxiety) to a dose of 1200 mg at bed.

Plus i take another 1800 mg divided up through the day.

Guess what? Zero rls for about 4 nights now. Thoughts gone, less anxious.

I'm planning to eliminate the 1/4 dose tonight. I'll see how my legs do. If i need the 1/4 (placebo or not) I'm happy with that.

I should add I'm a regular cannabis user and take kratom daily (I've been doing both for several years so neither have contributed to my symptoms.

Prior to this i tried everything under the sun. Iron (still take that), creams, lotions, otc rls pills, heat, ice, vibration, socks, no socks etc.

I hope y'all find a solution to the suffering. I'm sure my ar with rls is never over, I'll take comfort in a win for this small battle now. And try to remember th8s time during my next flare.

Try taking Magnesium Citrate too. I take 2x daily which provides 400mg magnesium and it helps me. I now realise that I was augmenting when my RLS got worse and over time have managed to stop taking Requip (1mg). I do still suffer sometimes but it has improved with iron supplements, the magnesium, stretching exercises and no wine. Good luck!

Thanks! I'll see about added the magnesium too.

Alcohol is a no no for me at this point too.

Doesn't matter what type, they all bother my legs or give me anxiety. Not a big deal to give it up.
