Esketamine nasal spray blocks excess glutamate

I found this interesting article while reading DM online ( I know I shouldn't but the showbiz gossip is my light relief!).

dailymail.co.uk/health/arti...

It is a nasal spray recently approved by the FDA to treat resistant depression. It works by blocking excess Glutamate production in the brain.

As excess Glutamate is implicated in RLS it may be a possible future treatment. Let's hope the RLS experts are looking into it and perhaps considering trials.

Interesting read Jools, will forgive you reading the DM. if thats how you get your light relief reading the gossip. lol The Glutamate found from that study done by was it Dr Early,,? I am completely brain dead this morning with only 2 hrs broken sleep. It seemed the Glutamate caused insomina which is a big bug for alot of RLSers. their meds work, legs are nice and quiet, but they lay awake for hrs and cant drop off. So, hope it is being picked up and researched for RLS. On that note, will get off here, and try to nap and as MY legs are not quiet right now, then naps dont look like happening, :)

Oh Elisse,

That’s not enough sleep. Can you sleep in the day? My meds and increasing ferritin seem to be helping- but if I have a bad night I can manage to sleep in the afternoon without the legs playing up.

Hate to suggest it but reading gossip seems to send me to the land of nod pretty fast.

Hi Jools, i can sometimes get a couple of naps in, usually just an hr at a time, can never seem to nap past an hr. Today had the carpet cleaned in the lounge so me and the dog spent the day in my bedroom, i got an hr after the cleaner man had gone, then the dog groomer was coming just after lunch, i was hanging by then, after she went i got another half hr, legs were quiet. Its not the first time, of having such a rubbish night, but i usually get more sleep than last night's. I never sleep all night, whats that.? its the meds that i have a problem with as i have said before on here a couple of times. Glad you are doing well with your meds and increasing the ferritin level, right, even when you find what works nothing is 100% with the meds where RLS is concerned. LOL, well good the gossip sends you off fast. I have been listening to music on youtube, using my phone, the oldies, and that sends me off usually. :)

Oh great, horse tranquilizer! I found this article aimed at natural Glutamate blockers - it's aimed at MS patients, but seems very well researched and written. reversemsmdblog.com/natural...

Ha ha- yes you are correct. A party drug abused by our youngsters doesn’t sound too palatable.

Healthy diet and supplements would be preferable.
