I posted recently about the surprise results from an EEG indicating that at 53 i have temporal lobe epilepsy. Learned that mom had seizures in the 1970s and has severe RLS. Son is 21 who also just came back with a positive EEG for epilepsy and is already showing signs of RLS.
My armchair research has shown that different types of epilepsy are related to sleep disorders. I have never seized, nor has my son, so we had no idea we even had it.
I would recommend that anyone with RLS get an EEG - seems it would help with all the medicine experimentation.
Last week we took DNA tests in the doctors office which he says will tell him which meds to use and which to avoid. So far, I am unmedicated other than 2.5 Valium before bed. My son has been on too many trials already 😢
I also have tinnitus, very sensitive to noise which are other markers for temporal lobe epilepsy.
Hope this helps someone out there. Would love to find others who match my diagnosis.

I was interested to here about the link the tinnitus. I developed this a few years before my rls increased from occasional to every night. No sign of epilepsy thank goodness but I will bare it in mind as have not been tested. Your doctor sounds very knowledgeable and I will be interested to hear how you get on with DNA results.
