I read the post on here people talk about all kinds of meds, and I'm so glad they work for you, but I can't cope with it any longer. I sit and watch the clock and night draws in and I know what my night is going to be like, just want to be normal if there is such a thing. Go to bed at night and flippin sleep without my legs arms waking me up all the time, it dosent ease it just gets worse as you get older. You think to yourself will it ever just Stop!!!!

Gutted for you , I used to walk the streets all night exhausted . I wonder why it goes or calms down in the day. Is if possible to switch your routine, sleep all day, until it starts during the day then switch back to nights? Mind though I had I’d day and night, night the worst though. I stopped taking an anti-depressant and it went in 2 or 3 days and I KNOW how lucky I am. I’ve just this minute thought, and it’s very extreme-but one heck of an illness, what about a local anaesthetic ??? I don’t know the ins and outs of that but man might work proper.

Best regards

John

oh geez, so sorry!! Are you augmenting? If so, do I have some things to tell you that will hopefully help. Let me know. Hint: things do get better, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi Feah

So sorry to read your posting. Four months ago you mentioned that Dihydrocodeine 30mg was working for you and you got your life back thanks to that. What has changed since then?

That sounds dreadful, Feah. What meds are you taking at the moment? That is no life at all.

Hi Feah

What meds are you taking now including OTC meds/ supplements?

You shouldn’t have to suffer like this. You should see your GP to find meds that will help you get some sleep.

I really hope you find a combination that works for you.

Also get your blood tested for full iron spectrum & ensure serum ferritin above 100.

Maybe magnesium/hot baths/ late night yoga/compression socks will also help?

Let us know how you get on

I would love to have this list.

How absolutely horrible for you. I know the feeling - apart from one part, which is that I'm lucky and every night I think I will sleep, not that I won't. i haven't made myself think like that, I just do. But every single night I'm up several times. I just don't dread it in advance. Sometimes at night I think I can't go on like this either and the day time sleepiness and useless feeling is awful but I also do find time to have a day time nap which helps a bit or a longer sleep from say 7 or 8am for a couple of hours - lucky to be retired so am able.

Sometimes I'm awake every hour or so and it won't switch off but on others I can get 2-3 hours in a row.

I take nothing at the moment except trying to get iron up.

So my knacks to help are - hot baths to flick the off switch, sometimes 2 or 3 a nigh, a small cup of coffee when it kicks off ( a hint from someone on this site ), doing puzzles such as crosswords and code word, and one of the main ones I am now so convinced about I dare not eat it - no sugar at all.

Also make sure you are taking no other meds which can make it worse - there are lists on the RLS site.

And of course if you're taking `any current treatment then it could well be that you are augmenting and will need to reduce and stop it. I'm convinced that pregabalin did that to me. I never took any DA's.

Hang on in there.
