I have tried acupuncture in the past, many years ago and it never helped my RLS.
thanks...worth a try!
There are past threads on acupuncture. If you use the search box you will be able to find them. In the majority of cases acupuncture does not appear to help, going by the replies.
If you want a non-med approach, the fitst thing to look at is your mother’s blood iron levels, especially those for ferritin ( indicator of body iron stores). Ferritin should not kust be ‘normal’ but at least above 100. See for a complete paper and guidelines. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/2...
Many people also benefit from taking Magnesium (-citrate or -bisglycinate) or applying magnesium ’oil’, made at home from half water half Epsom salts, to their legs.
Other non-med treatments include various diet restrictions, such as low-carb, vegan, glutenfree, low FODMAP, etc. Browse the forum using the search function. Happy reading.

I tried a few years ago. It didn’t help my RLS but it did help my anxiety caused by the RLS. I actually had an episode while on the table with all the needles stuck in me. Funny looking back but not at the time!
I've no experience of accupuncture, but I have eliminated my rls without medication. For me it involves carefull attention to diet. I avoid all sources of E202 artificial preservative, sugar and sweetened foods like choclate, sweets, deserts etc and limit the ammout of high carb foods I eat.
I tried acupuncture too but it never made any difference.
Hello.
I tried Acupuncture but it had no effect whatsoever but thats not to say it won't work for others.
Yes. Acupuncture here in Korea. Expensive and worthless.
I recommend investing in a foot bath - preferably one with nobbles on the bottom that will bore into the soles of her feet as she sits there cooking them in 43 degree Centigrade water (or as hot as your mother can stand). Make her park that thing right in front of the sofa while she watches the tele for half an hour before she goes to bed.
For the first 10 to 15 minutes your mother's RLS will go off, and it will be uncomfortable. She will probably sweat and feel uncomfortable as her body's core temperature rises too. But after that the RLS will start to ease up and the body will feel more relaxed. If she goes to bed soon after that, her symptoms should be relieved for a couple of hours at least, more if she is lucky. If you have a Jacuzzi, even better.
I beg you to advise her to stay away from any Parkinson's meds! Augmentation problems are real and serious. And those drugs are unpleasant to come off when the time comes that throwing more of them at the problem no longer works.
Change the foot bath water every other day, as it will start to look funky^^!
I tried acupuncture & it didn’t help me directly. I did learn the nerve paths, which is helpful when ‘pummelling’...I can now dig deep in affected locations, which is helpful (for me, anyway). I must add that I ultimately spent around £750.
I’d like to add that my legs rested whenever I was having the treatments, which did take me by surprise...I was dreading the need to move with all those needle/pins stuck in! I would walk away feeling dopey and relaxed each time, but it never had any effect away from the sessions ☹️

wrap foot between toes and heel to put pressure on muscles so they relax and it stops RLS
