Itching legs

Got RLS under control but now I have another leg problem. Ankles and above some itch terribly, especially at bedtime. Been to cardiologist , not that, dermatologist not that, tried various lotions with no success. Only way to get sleep is soak feet in ice water for 15 min every 2 hours all night. Going to neurologist tomorrow. Any help?

Are you taking codeine? Itching can be a side effect but it does wear off.

Consider having your legs scanned for venous insuffifiency. It causes that kind of itching in many people. If you have it, you can decide with your dr. whether or not to treat it. I had the itching, discovered I had severe venous insufficiency, and chose to go ahead with vein oblation, and now have almost no ankle/lower leg itching, and have mostly lost the heavy-leg-fatigue sensation I had. It lowered the severity of my RLS symptoms by about 50%. Consider the treatment carefully, because there can be side effects. I have mild edema, that’s the only side effect and I’m not sure it’s from the oblation, but it might be slightly worse after it. Nothing that’s not manageable.

At times I would get a deep deep painful itch in my feet and/or ankles. I found out that it is due to using artificial sugar. I stopped using it. I have also come to know that whenever I eat or drink something that my body can't handle, my feet and/or legs will let me know this way. I really have to watch my diet. (really sucks) Don't know if it's because I'm diabetic or it's something else. Maybe keep a journal relating to diet and itching. Hope this helps.

Are you allergic to your Rls med? Ask your Dr for anti itch med. Have you tried benadryl

Unfortunately Benadryl will make RLS worse for most RLS sufferers
