Yes I am up beady3. Not having a good night, or should I say morning. I do exercises, walk around the house, do things in the kitchen and have showers. Sometimes my Neupro patch doesn't stick very well and that is why I think I am having a bad night. I am just so tired.

Hi beady3, I was up the other night when you posted but it was actually my first night on this site. Oh heck, in my 'previous life' I was always a morning person, so is my husband. We actually got married at sunrise. Now I am am still a morning person which collides with my going to bed time by about 1-3 hours. That is how much sleep I get. I do all of something everyone has mentioned. I clean drawers, legs up and down, sideways or anything. I hot shower, sometimes several time. Using the computer also helps me not get so angry and cry and scream. Thank goodness my hubby is rather deaf. I disturb him enough. I responded a few minutes ago to another post about how people really do not understand the invasiveness of RLS and just make gentle comments. One of the most annoying goes something like this, "See you later. Hope you have a good night's sleep. Drink some chamomile tea. It always helps me sleep." Grrrrrrr Auntie Sioux

Had an awful attack during the evening when I was too tired to get up and walk round. 3rd time in a week it’s happened and I can’t think of any reason. But no, not up during the night even though the Tramadol made me alert and couldn’t sleep before 4am. I’d rather lay awake than have RLS all over. Usually I prepare breakfast, read if I can sit down or iron if I’m desperate (at least that earns me Brownie points!).

You are very sensible doing the jobs, I went to visit someone last night and she said had I tried massaging my legs before I went to bed , it makes you want to laugh

Except it also makes you want to cry. I find it increasingly difficult to tolerate those sorts of comments. They reverberate around my head afterwards. Even if they are well meant there is an unavoidable sub-text that this is a relatively trivial condition that would be overcome by a more resolute person.

I agree. I tell very few people and those that I have confided in, I rarely talk about it, as they always say ‘ have you tried this....’ or ‘ I read the other day’....

Work are aware as I have had appointments to see the neurologist and needed time off and although they appear sympathetic I can tell they don’t really get it. And people will say “ I get that occasionally ‘ and you can tell they think I’m making something out of nothing. I used to get it occasionally before the menopause and it was a mild inconvenience, hardly worth mentioning. Now it’s every night, all night without fail unless I medicate.

So I do know what you mean and it’s sad we should be made to feel like that.

I honestly don’t think most doctors really understand what we go through either. Although my doctor listens I always feel I’m making a fuss when they have far more urgent cases to see.

And yet the repercussions of what we have can be far reaching....

Anyway moan over and back to the day. 3rd day in with Pregabalin and not a bad night. Slept for an hour, up for two and then slept for 5 hours. While it’s the school holidays and I don’t have to be up at 6am I’ll take that!

I love your name of involuntary dancer. That is a great title for a book about this adventure. I thought when I get to the other side of this I would write a book and title it, "Come Dance With My Legs." maybe the author could be (ha, ha, ha) 'Involuntary Dancer." Auntie Sioux
