Book on rls: I recently saw a book... - Restless Legs Syn...
Book on rls
best book is 'clinical management of rls' by Henning, Allen, Buchfuhrer and Lee but there is also a good book written by Dr. Buchfuhrer on his own,
Lee, Buchfuhrer, Allen & Hening (2012) Clinical management of restless legs syndrome. Amazon uk for £22,61 I just noticed. Definitely worth it. Make sure you buy the latest (2nd) edition.
There are also very good articles for free on the inet, by the same authors.
And on the rlshelp.org site.
Lotte and ID, i believe the new recommended doses for the DA''s are in the book. ?
Yes, well, kind of. I think I read someones post that the current max recommended doses are on the USA site rls.org
In the book (ch. 9, p. 164) it says:
“The FDA-approved maximum dose is 4 mg but as discussed above for pramipexole, not exceeding 1 mg per day may reduce the odds of side effects.”
Ok, so sort of then. If you have to join the RLS Foundation to find that info out, then that shouldnt be so, All info should be free to all who have RLS, not to have to join to find it out. Emailing Dr.B you would get free info on anything RLS.
The new thought is that 0.25mg should be exceeded only with great caution.
I remember when I was first prescribed The Monster, I was told that I could easily go to 4mg.
I have read patients stories where their neurologist allowed them to get to 8 (EIGHT) mg. Omigod.
The numbers keep coming down.
Soon, they will be zero after all the lawsuits kick in and there is a Black Box warning.
I would seriously be interested in knowing the name of that book as well
