How long have you been on the Ropinerol and have you been increasing the dose to get better relief?

That " pain is gone " may be spamming- please let us know.

Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.

BTW- tonic water will do nothing for the rls.

"They" won't up the dose? Why not? You are nowhere near the recommended dose limits for RLS. Unless there is more to this story, you should get a new practitioner to manage your RLS. Seek out a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders.

Hi Stella, have you had your ferritin levels checked? RLS is frequently associated with iron deficiency. For those suffering with RLS ferritin levels should be higher than what is usually considered to be normal.

Perhaps you can request this simple blood test to check your serum ferritin levels. Ask for a copy of the result, do not take your doctors word for it that your level is normal. The level should higher than "normal" for those suffering with RLS. The number should be around 100.

If you are in the UK and have not visited the RLS-UK website here is the link which may be of help to you: rls-uk.org

There is a link on the website for medical professionals that you doctor may like to take a look at: rls-uk.org/professional-res...

Hi Again:

Do you live "way out there"? If so, then you must make a trip to the "city" to find a good neurologist who is familiar with/ specializes in movement disorders.

Sheesh, I am a healthcare provider. I cannot stand a provider who will not admit that he/she may need a the help of a consult.

Hi:

Welcome. Sorry that you had to join.

There are many medications to help to control/eliminate your RLS symptoms.

Usually, the first choice meds are the dopamine agonists:

Dopamine agonists: These are most often the first medicines used to treat RLS. These drugs, including pramipexole (Mirapex), rotigotine (Neupro), and ropinirole (Requip), act like the neurotransmitter dopamine in the brain. Side effects include daytime sleepiness, nausea, and lightheadedness.

Gabapentin, an anticonvulsant , may be used

Clonazepam, a benzodiazepine ( or "tranquilizer" as they are called, will relax the smooth muscle.

ALSO: Try a warm shower to control symptoms
