This doctor successfully treats the causes of gout. Start at the top and read articles in succession. You will know more about gout than you doctors. Give it a months try. It will change your life:
Is there a connection between gout and RLS? I've been having an awful period of gout recently, but have found that soaking my feet in water that's as hot as I can stand (without burning myself of course) has a marvellous effect which lasts a couple of days. But if you're getting sores on your legs, that's a sign of poor circulation. I'd get a test done if I were you. Acid levels I haven't a clue about, though. Not sure where the thyroid comes into the picture either - though I take thyroxine tablets for a lack of thyroid hormone.
Anyway, get those sores looked at. If they persist, they can turn nasty - a bit like bedsores.
Hey Thys. I have, or should say had, gout with high uric acid levels. I drink a LOT of water every day and my Dr. suggested I check my urine pH, betting me it would be in the low 5"s. He was right. His suggestion was to add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to each gallon of water and recheck my pH level in a week or two. I did, and in two weeks my pH was up to a much more neutral range of 7.0. Several months later, thinking I had solved the problem, I stopped the baking soda in my water. Bad news. About a month later I came down with a very painful episode of gout. I took the medication to ease the pain and get over it and immediately started the baking soda again. Have not had a problem in 6 months. And, actually, the soda makes the water taste/feel better, so, it was a win, win situation.
Don't know if it is for everyone, but hope it helps.
