Whole-body disturbance

I have been trying without success to find anyone who has an answer for sleep deprivation which seems - but may of course not be - due to environmental disturbance. Moving house (already done it) is no longer an option. No-one else in my area, nor my husband, can feel the continual, discrete episodes of ground vibration that get into my body and continually shake me awake every night. I had two really bad years when I was pretty well having a breakdown (and I’m having another bad time now.) I was at last referred to a neurologist miles and miles away ... who took four months to contact me, by which time I was out of patience and disgusted that I was just left to suffer, so refused to go (I couldn't take the car vibrations anyway.) I stabilised enough to get through the night on a dose of one Piriton tablet and two Montmorency Cherry capsules, but I stopped these as I was feeling depressed in the morning and worried that the Piriton was causing my memory lapses. I would dearly love to know what changed in me to cause this dreadful problem that bears no resemblance to any other sleep disorder I have heard or read about except Restless Leg Syndrome. I used to get restless legs but it stopped when I changed my undersheet to a coral fleece throw. I do know it's not entirely my own body systems creating a 'feedback loop' as often it is an actual local vehicle that can be identified. I have no idea what else starts and stops all night - washing machines? Dishwashers? CH? Certainly not mine, and the neighbours aren't owning up. I would so like an answer to my own hyper-sensitivity. Is it a variant on ‘Restless Legs?’ Any input would be welcome, as it has been going on for nearly three years now and I’m pretty desperate.

Hello!

I would love to help, but am a little confused. You want advice on why your restless legs are so bad, right? If I am wrong, could you please rewrite your post in a more concise way? You sound desperate, so I really want to help you get through this. Thanks!

It seems there are other people who experience a similar sensation to you. Have a look at the above link.

What you describe is not RLS as you have clearly suffered from full RLS in the past and know what that feels like. If Piriton ( anti histamine) helps you sleep then it's not RLS as Piriton makes it worse for 99% of us.

These vibrations that shake you awake at night- can you manage to get back to sleep or are you awake for hours?

It would seem that your body is hyper sensitive to something but I doubt it's neighbour's household equipment. Perhaps it's an electrical current in the earth locally or radiation ( Cornwall in particular has local ground radiation) and you are picking up on it.

I have a neighbour who uses an earthing sheet to ground his body. Apparently it's very popular amongst his yoga group. Maybe you would benefit from this as perhaps your nerve endings are hyper sensitive to the earth's electrical current. This link is for buying an earthing sheet.

Finally, have you contacted a holistic or reiki healer? That might help.

Are you on any medications at all? There might be something you are taking that is causing the nerve endings to vibrate.

I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful- but I'm pretty sure what you describe is not RLS.

I hope you manage to get some relief.

I get what your saying as i feel the vibrations too almost feels like deep earth tremors i know it's not neighbours washing machines going as i don't have anyone living next to my bedroom lol im super sensitive to vibrations due to being hearing impaired but these are different i've put it down to BFS ( Benign fasciculation syndrome) i suffer with as well as RLS . i hope i've read your statement correctly x

Hi PAFC - I feel the vibrations of the earth - became super sensitive to them after being in three major earthquakes and the pursuing aftershocks. The feeling is like a low hum - apparently about 2 percent of people can feel them. There is a lot of activity - particularly along the ring of fire. I find it sort of annoying, sort of interesting and a somewhat useless new sense I have developed. Sometime it goes on for weeks and sometimes still. Nothing to worry about. I don’t know if this is what you are feeling - check earthquake maps maybe - I feel them before and after - the resonance after a large can go on for awhile. The earth is a moving body. Hope you are feeling better.

Hi Denise, we do have the occasional quake in North Wales but very tiny! Hardly Ring of Fire! No, my problem is largely the mass of traffic, machinery, compressors, generators, home appliances that are all around; there is hardly ever any stillness and my body hates this. It's Saturday, and I'm having to hold my feet off the floor to keep the incessant vibes at bay. Very 'buzzy' all last night too. Thursday night was wonderful - no idea what happened but it was SO still for a change! Maybe I switched off??? I'm trying every approach I can think of to damp my hypersensitivity down; otherwise it's basically "what can't be cured must be endured." It's very distressing.

Oh yes sensitivity to mechanical man made vibrations must have quite a different resonance. Can you pin point when this started? Was there a key event that triggered this sensitivity? I feel that the sensitivity my body now has is quite a primal body response in an attempt to keep me safe. Maybe a starting point is getting to the bottom of when and why this sensitivity started as it may have triggered a hyper sensitivity and alertness that has you in a fight / flight / freeze mode - that can turn into a self perpetuating loop. This may put increasing strain on your nervous system.

I know the date when it first happened noticeably - August 20th 2015. I know I'd been subliminally aware for ages because I'd be lying in bed and suddenly everything would be more still and I'd think, "It's nice when it stops!" But this wasn't in any way distressing. After the August episode it got worse, and that winter I was absolutely climbing the wall.

I have tried to pinpoint a trigger; maybe the wrist fracture in May 2014 that meant I had to go onto supplements for osteoporosis. I know around the time it started I was ordering mega Calcium and Magnesium capsules. I'm currently trying life without extra magnesium in case it was over-affecting my nervous system.

The latter has always been jumpy anyway - I have always tended to over-react. Maybe because I was born in a UK city during WW2 and there were bombing raids.

I am also an astrologer; I have looked in minute detail at my own developing planetary patterns, and the problem and its timing are both extremely clear. It tells me that I should be near the end of the worst of this; I may be close to getting my earlier resilience back. Fingers and toes crossed!

Denise, what is your history? How do you cope?

Hi PAFC - our mind has such a strong effect on our body - feeling safe and loved and allowing is so important in these times - and as we age our nervous system needs more support and self care. That is really interesting about the bombing and war time - that will be deeply locked away. For me the earth vibrations don’t concern me - nature is a powerful beautiful, destructive and self generating force. I witness it and go back to sleep. Wishing you speedy recovery.
