I have electric itching all over my body after taking requip for RLS. Could it be a reaction to the medication?

Itching without rash
How long have you been on Requip and what dose are you on? When you say electric itching, does it hurt & make your skin twitch? Does it last for a long time or prevent sleep?
I haven't heard of that side effect so not sure what it could be.
Are you on any other meds that could interact?
Jools
Hello, I am also new to the forum. Great question, Jools, regarding other meds interacting. I experienced the identical reaction to requip a few years ago. I am sorry you are having a tough time. Prior to seeing Jools' comment I was going to ask what other meds are involved as well. I was on Celexa at the time and the combination created debilitating havoc with my system. I would be interested to know if SSRI's are a factor. I have learned that not all interactions are "loud" enough to be reported officially, but are very real for a portion of the population.
Joolsg’s question is a great one! I don’t have any answers, but my recent experience might help your investigation into the culprit:
I was recently able to quit the medicine Orfiril after years of being on it. Orfiril is Valproic acid prescribed for epilepsy, but can also act as a mood stabilizer against mood swings. My first night off of it was horrendous, with nonstop electrical sensations starting at the base of my feet and going up to my ankles. Through this site, I learned that cessation of valproic acid treatment can cause this! The electrical sensations are a lot less now and have changed in feeling from electrical to feeling like someone is tickling me. I don’t have a rash, but feel the itching nonetheless. I hope my experience allows you to feel that your not alone.
Good luck in finding the cause!
Take care,
Jessica
