A cautionary tale.

''Twas Christmas Eve and all round the house nothing would stir not even a mouse".........unless of course the poor sod had rls. A cautionary tale as the caption says.......just because it's Christmas do not let your guard down for you will be punished. Had a little to much sweet stuff over the day which I never have and now look at me, 4pm, still awake, moving around and have not slept yet. On the bright side I nearly caught Santa this year, slippery fellow that he is. Good job I am off for a couple of days so I may be able to make up for being awake all night. No more. "oh well,it is Christmas so just the one". It's back to bland and tasteless. Do have a relaxing Christmas and if I do manage to catch Santa I will ask him for a cure for us all!

Hamish you know it will be worth a bland diet even if it only reduces the leg problems a little. You were lucky to maybe catch a glimpse of Santa. It is a rarety to do so .Let us all hope that the coming year brings more answers which could alleviate all of our problems. In the meantime hold steady.

Good attitude, Hamish. I guess we all need a reminder now and then. I do wish you to sleep like a baby again from now on.

Love the attitude, Hamish! Here’s to a merry Christmas!!

Good thoughts Hamish. It's worth us being reminded that these RLS don't get given a Bank Holiday. I appreciate your generous thoughts concerning the well-being of all of us sufferers if you see Santa. Thanks,

Lindy

Hi Hamish

I hope you are making good progress for 2018

I just thought I would mention that I have become suspicious of decaf coffee. I normally have no RLS since I have been on a modified FODMAP diet but I recently ran out of decaf tea. Hence 6 cups of decaf coffee a day and mild but annoying RLS for the last three nights. I keep a diary and the decaf coffee seems to be almost the only departure from normal. Although I just remembered that I am reducing my sugar intake significantly for general health reasons and maybe this has something to do with it. Most people seem to find the opposite ie a sugar increases causes an RLS increase response. I will bore you all with a report if I work out what happened.

Hi Graham 3196, Thanks for your sound advice. I seem to be ok on decaf coffee. I have them a couple in a week so not too much trouble. I only see a difference if I mix it with another trigger or two and the combined amount can then set it off. The other night I'd not had my Sea Salt crisps for a few weeks and ate quite a few before bedtime.....it wasn't a good start to the night, everything tingled and went berserk so I'm now watching salt as I don't normally have any. I'll introduce it slowly in the crisps and see how that works as I think I maybe had too many after none for 10days. Take care and keep in informed of your progress.
