Levodopa
The med Levodopa isnt used much these days for RLS. You can augment on it quite quickly. I will try to find some info for you.
Yes l took it for my RLS, it was the very first prescription med my GP tried me on when the symptoms became unbearable.
I have to be honest and say it worked a treat for me at first but then augmented very quickly even on a low dose.
I subsequently learnt that it is not seen as a good choice for that reason and is viewed as a poor option for treating RLS as opposed to other drugs.
Hope that helps.
My first drug I tried for RLS was Sinimet. Its levadopa and carbidopa.....did nothing for me. Plus I found out from others that it is a bad augmentation drug
I take ropinerole which is a dopamine drug. Couldn't be without it as I suffer 24/7.x
I've been on carbidopa/levodopa (sinemet) 50-200mg (CR) since mid-October breaking away from an 8 year run on pramipexole which ended in severe augmentation. 1 tablet at bedtime gets me about 4 hours sleep. Another 1/2 tablet then gets me another 3-4 hours. I didn't realize the augmentation potential with carb/levo. Anyone know how long it takes for augmentation to occur with carb/levo (sinimet)? And what has worked as a substitute for carb/levo?
Been on it for 4 yrs. Now take 4-500mg every night. Only good thing is no side effects and acts quickly
used for Parkinson's disease they also get RLS but it treats the disease never used it my-self ,also the side effects can be nasty.
I've been on Sinemet, 200 Mg, plus 600 Mg of gabapentin minutes before bedtime . No rls at all. If there are side effects I don't know what they are. I get rummy in the morning but I think that's from the Trazadol I take right at bedtime. The Sinemet's really been good for me but I wouldn't be surprised if it stops working at any time. So I'm always looking for a Plan B.
@Ikeeptrying, is this the combi of meds you still take every evening? And did you mean tramadol instead of trazodol? If yes to both questions, I wonder which med is doing what. I also wonder what made you take those three different types of meds.
Anyway, If your rls plays up again, focus on sinemet as the most likely culprit. But I hope dor you that will only be in the distant future.
