Have a question for yehall! I have received written confirmation of my appointment with specialist coming up and they have asked me to stay overnight for a sleep study. My question is ..... (and so I don't sound too stupid in front of the doctors I shall ask you guys first). Am I supposed to have no meds first? because if you take the meds as per, they won't see anything, so what's the point.

SLEEP STUDY QUESTION
Ask them - not us. They're the ones doing the study.
Your point is very valid. Certainly not stupid.- and it shows them you are thinking about it and taking it seriously.
My own inclination is not to take the med for exactly the reason you state.
Good luck.
Agree with Madlegs. No such thing as a stupid question.
Good luck!
The only reason a sleep study is done is to see what happens while you are asleep, as in sleep apnea or PLMD nothing to do with RLS. So, if going by what other people do when having a sleep study done they take their normal RLS meds.
I think it depends on what the objective of the sleep study is. I'm scheduled to go in for a study soon to see if the meds are working properly. I have PLMD so it's hard to know if the condition is properly under control with the meds or whether they need to re-think things. I certainly don't feel as though I have restful sleep so we are trying to narrow down the causes.
I had a sleep study for Apnea (also have RLS) and my sleep doc said to follow usual drug routine and also gave me some Ambien because I was concerned about sleeping. The doc said the results would not be affected by the drugs.
I slept well, and the results showed moderate apnea, so the doc seemed to be correct.
