For anyone on iron tablets to raise the ferritin level, you need to take your iron tablets last thing at night on an empty stomach but also don't drink tea or coffee for at least one hour before. I only found out from my GP when my ferritin level fell even after increasing the iron tablets. My GP recommends a glass of Orange juice to help the iron uptake. Hope the next blood sample is a lot better.

Ferritin Level
Hi 4hail4, yes that is excellent advice. Let's hope your next blood test has improved results.
Thanks for the advice relay! I knew about needing to take it with OJ, but I didn't know about there needing to be a time gap between taking it and drinking coffee/tea.
Take care,
Thank you, It's worth knowing.
There are many different types of iron supplementation used to raise Ferritin levels. The usual product is ferrous sulfate (or other iron salts), but a different supplement has advantages over the ferrous sulfate. Ferrous bisglycinate chelate more readily crosses the blood brain barrier and it doesn't require Vitamin C to facilitate absorption, nor is it constipating. You can also get it as a patch for trans-dermal delivery (bypassing the digestion). See Patch MD for the patch. Read more about ferrous bisglycinate chelate here. albionferrochel.com/index.p...
