Oesophagus Hiatus Hernia

Hello , I have recently been for another endoscopy which was for a previous oesophageal Ulcer - multiple biopsies were taken after signs of oesophageal inflammation was present and a 2cm tongue of a Sliding Hiatus Hernia was clearly evident inside my oesophagus - endoscopist said he will have a consultation with a surgeon regarding this - could this affect my breathing as well as my ability to consume food/ fluids / as the condition already causes a persistent cough which has been there since my first diagnosis of a persisting Oesophagus ulcer present at the Junction . To date 20 or more biopsies had been taken over a period of 12 months- before recent multiple biopsies were taken . Still awaiting results of these .

Hi, E---, unless someone on here has had the same thing going on, i would search for a forum( if there is one on HealthUnlocked) to find people who would know and understand.

I know it's been a while but I just came across about you having an Endoscopic camara down your esophugus. I have Achalasia and have these camara down me regular our hospital still have the really thick one. It's awful but now they knock me out as I was struggling panicking that I could not breathe. I hope you get better it's not nice living with an illness.

Thankyou Dodo777

I know it's a fate worse than death getting that camera down eh - chocking and gasping for breath with a pain so severe in your chest as they blow air in - omg honestly I totally hate thinking of you having to go through it too and so relieved knowing they knock you out first now - I can't get knocked out because on my third one done they ripped my Oesophagus when they had to yank it out when my oxygen levels dropped and I heard a loud beeping noise behind me - they suctioned my throat and cos you are laying on your side eh - I watched blood coming out with saliva- then they chucked an oxygen mask over my face - well twenty-nine times later having it done I'm honestly feeling I want to give up having it done but can't say no eh .

Take care Dodo777 x

Please look up Barts (or Barrats) Oesophagus then I suggest you elevate your bed up slightly at the head end. Perhaps with a couple of books.

Hope that helps

Thank you 2everett I did read Barrett's oesophagus when I was first diagnosed initially with an oesophageal ulcer and can't quite understand how I developed a Oesophageal Hiatus Herna because no sign showed up during all the endoscopies before now- it's said to be a tongue just measuring 2cm of hernia that's Sliding into my oesophagus hopefully that means it's also sliding out too ? But either way I will keep you all updated when I hear back from results of the biopsies taken . Thank you so much for taking time to advise me and I will follow your advice and use more pillows or books to prop myself up at night . Thank you .
