Cyclizine help??

Can anyone help? I have slowly tapered off pregabalin but since completely stopping this drug I have experienced dreadful nausea. Due to this, my GP said I needed an anti sickness drug and gave me Cyclizine. I told him I was concerned as I know some aggregate RLS but he assured me this one didn't. Does anyone know if this is correct? as I am now experiencing far worse RLS in both my legs than I had before I went on the drug 2 days ago. Dreadful crawling and burning sensations.

Thanks in advance.

According to the experts, antinausea meds ending in "-zine" typically worsen RLS, so your doctor is wrong.

Recommended antinausea drugs are granisetron hydrochloride, ondansetron hydrochloride, dolasetron mesylate, and Domperidone. All listed in Table 8.2 of the book I have by Dr Buchfuhrer & others.

Do you take anything for RLS?

My friend was on pramipexole and was given an anti sickness drug and her RLS intensified so badly she had no sleep for 4 days. Turned out the interaction between the anti sickness pill and pramipexole was severe and they shouldn't have been prescribed together. Not sure if it was cyclizene but worth looking into if you are on both.

I take cyclizine regularly as I have almost constant nausea and I don't notice any increase in RLS symptoms but all that proves is everyone is different.

If you are experiencing an increase of symptoms regardless of what your Dr says YOU are experiencing difficulty with it and a change is needed.

If you can access Cannabis it is great for nausea and would be my preferred drug to treat it.

I suffer terrible sickness and take cyclizine as I'm allergic to all other anti sickness drugs and it can drive my legs absolutely crazy! An anaesthetist told me it's because it blocks the dopamine receptors. I don't have any choice due to my allergies but I would ask your doctor to try you on a different medication. Hope you get it sorted.

Cyclizine can at time drive my legs absolutely crazy!! I suffer dreadful sickness so put the cyclizine into my Hickman line x 3 times daily. It has helped my sickness for a short periob of time. I'll allergic to all other antiemetics apart from Cyclizine. Others have given me awful reactions - Ondansatron - Anaphalaxis Metraclopramide/ stemitil, Buccastem Domperidone caused various levels of Distonic reaction, from my tongue turning sideways in a cramp therefore not able to speak properly to the continual clenching of my teeth causing jaw pain. Nausanon - crazy, crazy, crazy restless legs!!

I have spoken to a few doctors/ anaethesists who informed me that most anti sickness medication blocks the Dopamine receptors which anyone who suffers from RLS will know that one of the main causes of RLS is the lack of Dopamine.

To try to prevent the onset of RLS caused by IV Cyclizine I try to take my Ropinerole which is prescribed for RLS, about 20/30 mins before administering my Cyclizine and that helps about 90/95% of the time. It's worth a try.
